It's not too hard to rip a DVD to VCD, you do need some software to do it. You should have a look at www.vcdhelp.com who have loads of info on ripping, authoring and burning. According to the law here (UK) I think you can make a copy of something as backup but that means you have to keep the original. I'm not sure what the legal thing is there.

I find this too and have found that ripping a DVD to VCD is the best thing to do. Although you lose a bit of quality it does mean you can put your favourite scenes together on one disc. Once the DVD writers get a bit cheaper then no doubt we will be able to make our own DVD compilations of favourite scenes.

I think it's down to the individual to decide when a collection is too large. I've had upto 60 DVDs at some points but then get bored with them and sell them on to buy others. Currently I have about 30 but at least 20 of those will be sold soon.

I don't know anyone from Ireland so I wasn't sure if Ireland meant north or republic. But now I know :) I still don't think that the package has been seized though as ADN can ship just about anywhere due to their clever packaging technique.

I've had no problem with ADN but have had an order from dvdadvantage confiscated by customs (it was when dvdadvantage went by a different name, I cannot remember what it was). Customs took at least a month, probably nearer two from what I can remember, to inform me that they had seized the goods. I thought with the recent change in UK law regarding pornography that we would not be getting any more seizures? Are you in Northern Ireland or the Republic? I don't know if a different law applies.

Putting the DVDs in sleeves is definitely a good move. Although the discs are normally quite durable it's still possible to get a scratch or two when they're loose in the package. For amarays you might like to try www.transco.co.uk, they have amarays for 38p each and international shipping is about 17. If you order 50 cases it'll work out at about 72p per case.

Certainly with mainstream DVDs shoppers tend to go wherever is cheapest. It's not always the same with porn shoppers though, especially when they have particular needs which us international shoppers definitely have. Initially I thought I'd be shopping elsewhere but nowhere charges a reasonable amount for shipping nor do they remove excess packaging to avoid customs. You may pay a little more for certain titles but you know that the DVDs are going to get to you and quickly too.

I think this is true of most online adult dvd retailers. I too buy more mainstream dvds than porn and have only ever found one company (djangos.com)to be upto the standard for customer service. All of the others use impersonal automated messages or simply don't care about solving your problem. I have always found AdultDVDNow to be superb for customer service. I think that the porn retailers are able to put that extra bit of attention to their work because they aren't dealing with mainstream DVDs. They value their customers more than say amazon.com because they know that the customer base is smaller and with many stores selling a similar range of titles at similar prices it's things like good customer service which keeps the customer coming...
