  An interesting question and one i've pondered over many times. I think a shoestring budget video would cost around $2,000, and a HQ film would run into maybe $400-500K. A true amateur video would cost nothing, except the cost of the camera and tape. The most expensive Porn film ever made was Bob Guccione's $17 Million extravaganza, "CALIGULA" ... although this is subject to speculation as Guccione only added in the XXX parts after shooting the main film, as Sir John Geilgud stated that he had no idea it was a porn film. So whether or not it is Hardcore or Softcore is debatable. I don't see any well known starlets doing it for free, although maybe a new girl trying to break into the industry might do it to get known.
