  Friends - I had a good road trip from San Diego up to Los Angeles on Sunday for Eagles-Rams. Sofi Stadium is just gorgeous. Eagles played an impressive all around game, and Saquon Barkley went off. Feelin' much better about this season's 9-2 squad than last year's 10-1 team at the same point in the season. This Eagles team is better constructed and seems to have a lot more heart. Especially on defense. On to Baltimore. BSD

  Friends - On my way from home here in San Diego to Cincinnati for my first Eagles road trip of the season. Last year I went 3-0 following them around, but then they crashed and burned to an ignominious slag heap in the last six weeks of the season. Don't know which Eagles I'm gonna get against the Bengals this Sunday. The Birds are 4-2, but it has not been an impressive 4-2, and after last season and this season's start, the skepticism around them is well founded. We've won the last two, but that was the Browns and the Giants, so I don't know how much of a measuring stick that is. We are pretty healthy, so in that regard we're in better shape than a lot of teams. If I only knew which Jalen Hurts we're gonna get. We'll see... BSD

  Friends - Good trip up to Los Angeles for Eagles-Rams ten days ago. Weather was beautiful, SoFi was beautiful, Eagles were good. Drive up and back between San Diego and L.A. was uneventful. Even found parking for FREE within three blocks of the stadium. Life was good. Then we went back to play the Jets. *Sigh*. BSD

Huh? You have to get permission from your inspiration to rub one out while talking to them on the phone?   Friends - Back yesterday from another Eagles road game in the rain. Tampa this time. So I got wet again. Eagles 3 and 0, and looked much better against the Buccaneers. Defense completely throttled the Bucs. The offense gained a lot of yards, but they are still not clicking efficiently down near the goal line. And Hurts is not quite where he was last year. But I ain't complainin' Next Eagles roadie is at the Rams in two weeks. I know I won't get rained on in Los Angeles. And I can drive there from here in San Diego and be back home the same night. No planes, no hotels, no restaurant bills. Works for me. BSD

  Friends - Sat in the pouring rain at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro for Eagles-Patriots. Not fun. The Eagles' performance was very uneven and the Patriots outplayed them for most of the game. But we won so I'll take it. Don't think the Pats are as bad as their fan base and talk radio were making them out to be. But it's Game 1 so we'll see. Eagles played no starters at all in pre-season and it showed. Especially on offense. I was in the bathroom for all the halftime Brady ceremonies. BSD

  ^^^^^ SMILER - Wembanyama IS pretty slight. And the NBA season grind is pretty tough for someone of his physical stature.. He might wanna talk to Ralph Sampson and ask him how that went. Actually I can see a little concern about the injuries he's already had. And it will be interesting to see just who he can guard in the NBA. But, I guess you can pick your poison. You can spend your money and time to wait tryin' to fatten and strengthen Wembanyama for the rigors of the league, or you can spend your money and time tryin' to keep Zion Williamson in the gym and away from the chicken and biscuits. Talent will always get a chance. BSD

  Friends - As a life long, born and raised Philadelphia 76ers fan, I just do not get it. I didn't understand it two years ago, I do not understand it now. I do not understand why NBA organizations fall all over themselves to throw money at James Harden. to ruin their teams while compiling a lot of empty personal stats. To me, there is little about that guy's personality and character that says "winner" or "champion". I'm so over this. BSD

  Friends - Went 3 and 0 on my Eagles road trips this season. Saw them win in Phoenix in October, saw them win in Indianapolis in November, and almost froze to death watching them win in Chicago last week. I'm a happy boy. BSD

  Friends - I got turned on to PJ O'rourke in the early '80s when he was a satirist contributor to Rolling Stone Magazine. I think his essay "Attack of the Euro-Weenies" was the first one I read, and was hilarious. Later on I read some of his books. I remember "Holidays in Hell." Didn't usually agree with his politics, but he was always funny and entertaining, and his observations were generally on point no matter which side he was firing at. BSD

  Friends - Bengals - Rams. Probably not the sexiest Super Bowl the NFL and the networks were dreaming of, but I'm good with it. If it means two weeks with minimal Brady slurping and Rodgers diva drama, I'll be a happy camper. BSD

  ^^^^^ SMILER - That was pretty much what I expected so I'm not feeling too crushed about what happened to the Eagles in Tampa today. I didn't see any way that we were going to beat the Buccaneers with Brady playing for them. While the Eagles showed a lot of improvement this season, the only reason we even made the playoffs is because we had Washington twice, the Giants twice, and the Jets once in the last six weeks of the season. All season when we played anybody good, and especially if the other team had a quality, experienced, quarterback, we were beaten. We had a better than expected season, made the playoffs, and it ended as far as our talent was gonna take us. BSD

  ^^^^^ Friends - Eagles' success this year is because of me. Made it to five Eagles road games this year and they went 4 and 1 in my presence. Saw them win at Atlanta, Detroit, Denver, and New York. Saw them get crushed in Las Vegas. I took the blame for the many times they've lost in road games I attended in years past, so I'm taking the credit for being a good luck charm this season. If their playoff game is in Los Angeles I'm gonna try and make that. If it's in Tampa, I'm screwed. BSD
