And I appreciate that White Dodge is arguing against the assumed guilt of accused rapists, but there are ways to do so that are more historically accurate and intellectually honest. White Dodge, I get what you're saying about the need for proof and process rather than mob justice, but I don't see how you can argue that treating an alleged rape victim's accusations as potentially true and worthy of investigation is the same as the racists who were looking for *any* reason to string up and butcher black men, regardless of whether they thought that victims should be believed. Based on social history, if one of those same white women had shown up saying that her white husband had raped her, chances are that no #listeningandbelieving inspired lynchings would have been suggested. It was racism. That's it.
