  Responding to the last comment....There ARE a few studios that DO make an effort to direct. With some degree of artistry. I think most studios don't understand what it is to "direct". They think barking out commands is "directing" (e.g. Mike Adriano...baking commands DURING filming).   Last commenter before me said he's not sure what dictates what makes performers worse today and better back then? I think a lack of dedication or the WANT to be GOOD at their "craft".
