  I'm also in Australia and I second Scipio's recommendation for AdultDVDToday. Recently, I tried Globalflix and I found their prices to be competitive and their shipping & handling charges fairly reasonable (for small orders). But they were a bit slow (order took 4 weeks to arrive). Excalibur's shipping charges are reasonable, I guess, for medium-sized orders of up to 5 DVDs and they can be very fast or very slow with delivery (I have no idea why this is, possibly because they have to ship orders between several warehouses in different locations). Prices are *very* competitive, especially if you search for the titles via IAFD. AdultDVDEmpire is generally very fast but the prices are usually not very competitive unless they have a sale on.   My point was that because it costs no more to ship with no cases inside the US, it hardly makes sense to charge $4.50 extra to ship with no cases internationally, yes? Labor and packaging costs are the same no matter where the item is being sent. Only the postage stamp costs a different price.

  I've ordered using USPS Global Priority before and I believe that it did not include insurance. Insurance is optional and costs extra, on top of the postage charges. From what I have seen, the insurance was charged on a per item basis, not by the postal weight or shipping method. PS: my packages are opened by Australian customs maybe 20% of the time and I have not had any of my shipments confiscated yet. ;) Perhaps if it were to happen then I would start buying the insurance, no? hahaha Edited by - arc on 1/15/2008 11:53:01 AM

  For the purposes of this discussion, you'll probably find that the small print states that the contract of sale was concluded in the USA and it further states that the seller is not responsible for the shipment once it has been posted, regardless of what the Bundesgesetzbuch might have to say about commercial transactions within the BRD. Anyway, good luck to you. I don't have a problem with large white envelopes or any other kind of packaging - I just want to be charged a fair price, just like everyone else.

That is the more expensive method that is inappropriate for posting 1-2 DVDs without cases - that method is better for mailing up to 20 titles without cases. So, no, it makes no logical sense at all. Any extra handling for shipping without cases is already amply covered by the $10.50 they charge for the cheapest shipping method.

  PS: for me (I in Australia), AdultCDMovies (and their various incarnations) have always provided AWESOME service. The only minor beef I have is that the customer cannot access a real-time online inventory check (like you can with Excalibur) so this means that you can place an order but not now which titles they currently have in stock. So you have to get around this by asking them to 'ship complete'. Cuz each different shipment to Oz (up to 6 discs) costs around $9.00!! PPS: tried out GlobalFlix for the first time recently and they were excellent. Very competitive prices. Delivery was a little slow though.

It goes like this: I placed an order for 2 DVD titles and asked for the cases NOT to be sent (include artwork only) using the cheapest international air mail method: $10.50 So what did they do? They upgraded my order to Flat Rate International ($15.00) WITHOUT asking me first (geez, I do have email, y'know!) -- they said that they can only ship titles without cases using the more expensive method -- I find this nonsensical and totally unacceptable!   I'm happy to report that Excalibur have fixed my issue by sending out the missing artwork with a subsequent order. They really seem to have cleaned up their act (as they promised to do). I'm more than happy to keep on sending business their way after this! (But I might add that I did not get the artwork sleeves for titles that had since been discontinued, eg older Private titles).   Perfidious, that sounds a lot like the situation in Australia. But the average price is AUD30.00 to 50.00. Exchanges are the norm too.

  Some of the internet sellers in Oz have the cheek to sell Evil Angel (licenced Australian pressings) for AUS$50.00 plus postage and handling (axisshop.com.au). The best price on the net is around AUS$35.00 (aciddvd.com.au and loveheart.com.au). However, the AdultWorld chain in Sydney sells them for around AUS$20.00 to $30.00 (for single-disc releases). So that is the way I go unless I can't find the title on the shelf. It's even less if you bring in a swap/trade-in. I prefer to go with 2nd-hand and For Sale titles from the States though. I've found adultdvdtoday.com to be a most reliable seller and the turnaround time is excellent! You can order a single title for only US$2.95 and it arrives at my place in Sydney inside a week.   ^ I would imagine that it would have cost Excalibur less than $1.00 to just slip that missing artwork into an envelope and mail it to me, no muss no fuss. ... considering the fact that I had already paid through the nose for the postage and handling and that artwork is legally mine because I paid for it. That is just bad business practice.

  Hi ben3, No, that was not the case. They were current titles from Private, New Sensations and others. It was just sheer sloppiness and lack of care. They apologized but still refused to ship the artwork to me until I submitted another order with them (I wrote twice asking them to). And there was no guarantee that the artwork would be shipped to me anyway.

  I have also had lots of problems with ordering from Excalibur. On no less than three occasions, the orders I placed arrived WITHOUT the cover artwork and they took 4-5 weeks to reach me in Australia. I've asked them repeatedly to send me the missing artwork and they replied saying that they would send it with my next order (IF available). Problem is, I'm not willing to do business with them any more, so I guess I will not be getting my missing artwork ever. They have also twice ignored my instructions to 'Hold & Ship Complete' despite my specific requests to do so.
