Being a while since she's had a good relationship, Alex can't help but be curious when she starts getting mysterious sexual phone calls from an unknown man. Sadly, that premise is more interesting than the rest of the movie. The action has a good focus on beauty, but the story and sex are both surprisingly shallow and overflowing with lost potential. The technical aspects are nicely done, but there's barely any effort put into the extras. There's a good idea here, but Adamo just doesn't seem like the right director for the job for this movie.

Review of Sex Thriller, dir. Antonio Adamo ('Private Gold') I confess to a serious tingle of anticipation whenever the words 'Antonio Adamo Film' appear across the screen at the beginning of a new Private movie... 'Sex Thriller' is the latest release on the 'Private Gold' label, and it's the first Antonio Adamo film for Private after a lengthy hiatus. 'Sex Thriller' was shot in Los Angeles with an American cast, but Adamo brings his trademark style to the direction and editing, supported by key members of his Italian crew: he enhances the performances of the American talent with his art-house European sensibility. Adamo's best cinematic techniques are all in place - his use of chic mise-en-scene and music, his strategic switches to slower motion, and the sensual swirl of his camera around a girl's tits and face after the cumshot. But in this film Adamo eschews 'tricksiness' in favour of a more restrained approach than in some of his earlier productions.
