Review brief: Vaguely based on the popular song of the time, "Harper Valley PTA," this old-school movie-with-a-plot is about a new teacher (Jessie St. James) and the students and parents of Vista Valley High School. Forget the plot, because like most porn movies it's just a method of setting scenes and it's pretty worthless. The real attraction of this movie is its stars, which reads like a who's who of porn circa 1980. Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay (credited on screen as Lexmax), Juliett Anderson, Kay Parker (on screen as Kay Taylor) Jamie Gillis and John Leslie are all in their prime. By modern standards the scenes are often missing something--the camera doesn't get every little thing the way it does now, and a lot of scenes seem shorter than one might expect. Almost everyone gets only one sex-scene in the movie, including Kay and Juliett, who would become two of porn's biggest stars, and Jessie St. James, the star of the movie. The DVD itself is no-frills. It divides the movie into six chapters, so expect a lot of fast-forwarding if you want to see something in particular.

Review brief: This was shot on location in Hawaii and features dozens of exterior shots of the island, as well as a sailboat, a helicopter, some scuba footage, an Aloha airliner, etc. The "Double Indemnity"/"Body Heat" style plot far exceeds any plot you'll see in today's porn. On the downside, this is 24 year-old footage, and it shows. The DVD transfer was pretty good, but the film itself is damaged and peppered with scratches and white spots. Moreover, the women doing porn in the late 1970's were pretty homely by today's standards, but Leslie Bovee is a very handsome woman and exudes an earthy sensuality. On the extras side, there is a full motion chapter-stops menu. The multi-angle gimmick is a complete waste of time, because most of the extra angles are just mirror images. The commentary track is the king of all DVD extras, but none of the people associated with this project are still around and willing to participate. Holmes passed away in 1988, and Leslie Bovee has been out of the business for twenty years.

Review brief: Year of Release: 1980 Writer/Director: Wes Brown (aka Anthony Spinelli) Producer: Arthur Cutter Cinematographer: Jack Post DVD Runtime: 78 min. 43 sec. Actors Juliet Anderson.......Aunt Peg Norton John Holmes...........John Jamie Gillis.............Franco Serena...................Susan Michael Ranger.......Michael Ranger Michael Morrison.....Jack (Sheilas father) Seka..........................Seka Shirley Woods (aka Sharon Kane)....Sheila Dotty Hart Review Right after the credits finish, we are thrust into a sex scene with a naked John Holmes (once again playing a character aptly named 'John') lying next to a brunette named Pam. John rolls over to her and as things look like they are ready to take off, we hear, "Cut!" It's a film set loaded with lights, cameras and crew. Producer Peg Norton (Juliet Anderson) calls a break for lunch and the set clears. John tells Pam to hang back because he needs to talk to her, and before you know it they are fucking...er, I mean rehearsing.

Review brief: This 1984 release from Cal Vista is a couple of years too recent to be considered "Golden Age," but is definitely a classic. Produced by Sam Norvell and directed by Robert McCallum, it features 70s porn superstar Annette Haven, along with John Leslie, Harry Reems, R. Bolla, and Hershel Savage. It also features "Angel" who was breifly the rage during the mid-1980s. She does a scene with Leslie and another with R. Bolla. My favorite performer is the under-celebrated Janey Robbins. She had a great body and was a very enthusiastic sex performer. Robbins also has a cute Minnesota accent (like the female sheriff in "Fargo"). Here, she does two scenes, one with R. Bolla and one with Hershel Savage (a purported incest scene). Strangely, it appears that this movie was intended to have a sequel, but I've never seen it, and I don't think it was ever made. Nu-tech has done an acceptable job on the DVD transfer; it looks much better than the tape I had. Nu-tech also features Dolby surround sound, but I couldn't detect any improvement in the sound.

Review brief: Length 83:23 Year 1978 This is a review of the NuTech dvd of Debbie Does Dallas. For a review and comparison of the VCX dvd of Debbie Does Dallas check out my other review of the VCX dvd of Debbie Does Dallas. The NuTech dvd of Debbie Does Dallas has slightly better picture quality than the VCX disc while the audio quality is virtually the same. There are 4 minor cuts made to the NuTech dvd that are not made to the VCX dvd though, but overall I feel confident in making a recommendation that you buy the NuTech dvd of Debbie Does Dallas because of the better picture quality and the fact that the movie is put on one track which eliminates the pauses that are present on the VCX disc while the movie switches between tracks. These 4 cuts do not amount to very much and you are not missing much in terms of actual sex or story. There are only 19 seconds total cut from the NuTech dvd so as I say your not missing much. Unless you have to have a totally uncut version of Debbie Does Dallas then go with the NuTech dvd. Now to the review of the actual movie.

Review brief: Old timers will recognize the reference to "Harper Valley P.T.A.," a story song written by Tom T. Hall and recorded by Jeannie C. Riley in 1968. The song went to number one on both the pop and country charts, and later became the concept of a 1978 movie starring Barbara Eden, as well as a short-lived TV series also starring Eden. This film was shot around 1979 or 1980, and it is hot!! Jessie St. James is the star, but there is a lot of good female talent including Dorothy LeMay, Kay parker, and Sharon Kane. This film is surprisingly mean spirited, and some people will be disturbed by depictions of incest (compare the Kane-Gillis coupling in this film with the duo's scene in Michael Ninn's New Wave Hookers, almost 20 years later). The film is plot driven and the sex scenes are typically much shorter than today, but they are very effective. The film was shot on film, and the DVD transfer is very good. The extras are the usual from Nu-Tech, nothing spectacular.

Review brief: Running Time: 77 min. Production Date: 1979 Director: Svetlana Cast: Jamie Gillis, Bud Wide, Chris Anderson, Nicki Phillips, Serena, Candy Summer, Desiree Cousteau, Amy Leigh, Nancy Suiter, Hillary Summers, and Lisa DeLeeuw Initial Expectations: This has some great performers from the golden age of porn. Hopefully itll live up to its fun premise. Initial Reaction: Although I really hate that the feature was edited, I still really enjoyed it. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who likes natural women and plot with their porn Who Should Avoid It: Raincoaters and anybody who likes more hardcore sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is normally clear and nicely balanced, although there is a little bit of dubbing. It sounds much better than I would have expected for the age. The video isnt crystal clear, but normally looks as good or better than most TV shows from the same era. There are a few spots where theres a little fuzz or pixelation, but overall its also very good.

The reputation and "importance" of certain writers rise and fall like tech stocks. Who's better, Faulkner or Salinger? Hawthorne or Cooper? To consider such questions is all mental masturbation when you get right down to it, so it's only natural that porn would follow suite. Jim Holliday, director and self-appointed porn historian, put together a little documentary years ago called Legends of Porn, in which he goes over what he believes to be the cannon of American blue movie stars.

Soon they find that their jobs aren't getting them money fast and they find that if they perform sexual favors the money adds up faster. Video/Audio: For its age, this disk is a good presentation of the film. The film contains many artifacts, none overly large or enough to be distracting. The picture is soft throughout the film and in some scenes the color is over saturated.

Review brief: Starring: Bambi Woods, Pat Allure, Robyn Byrd, Paula Head, Misty Winter, Richard Balla, and other people I never heard of Pros: Cheerleaders, Bambi Woods played the naive girl well, plot was simple, some good cheesy porn music, cheesy porn Cons: no features, some really bad music with poor sound quality, old Memorable quote: "Baby, don't choke. Stay alive" -- man to woman while she was deep- throating him (and you women think us men are insensitive). Plot: Debbie wants to go to some cheerleading thing. Her and her friends soon figure out that the best way to earn money is use their natural assets and talents. OK! I admit it. Debbie Does Dallas came out in 1978. At that time I am not sure that I was old enough to pronounce 'pornography', let alone watch it. I know absolutely nothing about the history of porn, but I do know that when I was old enough to know what it was (or at least have some visualization in my head) I heard of two titles: Debbie Does Dallas and On Golden Blonde.

Review brief: Starring: Jessie St.James, Desiree Cousteau, Georgina Spelvin, Richard Pacheco, Mike Horner Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Wistfully conjuring daydreams and calling them goals, some often say that before they die they'd like to travel the world, or finally read the complete works of Shakespeare. To those people, let me say this: Everything worth seeing in Europe is on top of a hill, and the important characters in Shakespeare all die. Actually, I don't recall anyone dying in A Midsummer Night's Dream, but that's beside the point. What I'm getting at is that these lofty goals are frequently not worth pursuing. Europe is exhausting and Shakespeare is sad. Instead, may I recommend you turn your cultural attentions to classic porn? Nobody gets stabbed with a poisoned sword and everyone gets laid. And sometimes, they have funny haircuts. One of the best, and most overlooked among the "good ol' day" roster of porn titles is Easy.

Review brief: Running Time: 71 min. Director: Don Flowers Cast: John Holmes, Leslie Bovee, Monique Little, Lori Moteumuth, Gloria Throate, Linda West, Berk Hopley, Buff Lesbos, Dennis Machant, Burham Tey, Peter Whigham, Rick Toole, Manuel Stucazzu, Nancy Crew, Allan Ball, Bruce L. Bruce, Sara Tulip, Alan Fink, and the Belly High Dance Troupe Initial Expectations: This one sound like a lot of fun. Initial Reaction: Its a lot of fun but not much of a porno. Audio /Video Quality: Its a classic, so one shouldnt expect it to look like a recently made movie. Even without considering the age, the audio is pretty clear. When considering the age, its great. The video suffers a little more. Its grainy and often very fuzzy with some relics. Music: The 70s music you know and love. Make that the 70s music you know. Review: The Senators Daughter is a lot of fun but its a little disappointing as a porno. Yes, normally the sex scenes in classic porn arent as long or defined as in modern porn but theyre even less so here.

Review brief: Starring: Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay, Sharon Kane, Kay Parker, Juliet Anderson, Brooke West, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, John Seaman Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Inspired, of course, by Harper Valley PTA, Vista Valley PTA puts Jessie St. James in the Barbara Eden role of a new teacher at a troubled small town high school. The original movie was a comedy based on a popular song. This time, we know from where the inspiration comes, but it's not so easy to label this as comedy, melodrama, or anything else. I suppose the term "porn" will have to suffice. Shot in the early 80's, Vista Valley PTA is considered a classic if only for it's age, but God bless NuTech Digital for releasing it despite it's dated look.

Review brief: Starring: Lisa DeLeeuw, Dorothy LeMay, Georgina Spelvin, Susan Nero, Chris Cassidy, Brooke West, John Leslie, Dewey Alexander, Hershel Savage Directed By: Robert McCallum The term "classic porn" is usually an oxymoron. After all, even the very best adult movies were cranked out over a week's shooting and shared little in common with their mainstream counterparts. Deep Throat, for all it's grandeur in the porn world is still a B-movie production. Yet, these "classics" are pretty damned entertaining, and nobody ever got off watching Citizen Kane. Garage Girls is one such classic "good time" kind of movie. It's silly, it's dated, and its jokes fall about as flat as a souffle in a thunderstorm. But, it's also sexy, fun to watch, and worth the discounted price most on-line retailers are charging for it. Garage Girls plays like one of those late night cable movies about a bunch of frat guys and their misadventures at spring break. You know the kind; you might find Danny Bonaduce making a cameo. This is no spring break movie, though.

Review brief: Running Time: 1:23 Extras: None. This was a big disappointment. With how much of a classic the original Debbie is, it really deserved a commentary at the very least. Audio / Video: This was the main fault with the DVD of Debbie Does Dallas. The video is pretty consistent with most video form the 70s. Considering how old the movie is, they probably did a pretty good job restoring it. The audio, however, is horrible. Most of the movie sounds like it was recorded in the shower. Actually, some of it was, but I had hoped that the restoration would have done a little better job with the rest of it. The rest: This is one of those adult films that although not perfect, everybody should have a copy of. I remember sneaking my parent's copy of Debbie away to watch when I was a teenager. It was a right of passage at that time for almost every teenage boy, and I hate to deny my children that right someday! There's a reason Debbie has stayed around so long and is still thought of so highly, despite the audio and video quality.

Review brief: "Easy" is a Golden Classic release by NuTech of a movie first released on film in 1979. The first thing that piqued my interest about this title was the prominent placement on the case saying all sex scenes are multiple angle. I was interested in where they found the extra footage and hoped this would be explained in the commentary. When the alternate angle icon showed up on the screen, I switched angles, to find that the "multiple angle" was merely the film reversed. There is no extra footage, and reversing the film has an interesting side effect, the lips don't match the voice. Throughout the rest of the movie, the angle icon becomes a constant reminder of the wool the studio tried to pull over the eyes of the viewers.Getting more into the action of the movie, this seems typical of 1970s porn and reminds me of Insatiable, another classic movie. Considering this is a film transfer, the video is surprisingly clear with good color reproduction. There are some visable flaws, but this look to be from the original film media, and not a side effect of being transfered.

Review brief: You know that when you have a classic on your hands youre going to see things you dont see in todays porn. Easy is all about what you wont see in the modern age of porn: a student who grabs his teacher after class and makes her lick his cum covered dick; a 17 yr old boy who breaks into teachers house and turns her on at knifepoint; a woman tongue fucking a guys ass; a catfight which results in one woman raping/seducing the other; full-body camera shots, kissing, foreplay, lots of bush, and tube socks. Exited yet? Well, you should be cause Easy is one of the most arousing flicks on DVD.Filmed in 1979, Easy was Jesie St. James first starring role. I wouldnt have known that if not for the Jim Holliday/ Jill Kelly commentary. Jesie appears the professional in every way. The plot is basically a few years in the life of a schoolteacher turned slut.

Review brief: The Original Debbie Does Dallas is far more of a movie than the modern versions, which like many of todays pornos are essentially a gallery of sex scenes strung together with a semblance of a plot. The Original very much plays on the innocence factor. The young, perky high school cheerleaders offer their services to their teachers and bosses in order to raise money (seems like theyre always trying to raise money.) The sex is a fulfillment of that teenage girls screwing older men fantasy. Oh Mr. Greenfield, Im not that kind of girl Oh my Mr. Greenfield, youre so big! The girls are all very attractive with wonderfully natural bodies. If you like looking at small, round breasts over and over again this is the movie for you.

Review brief: Eruption, a 1978 film starring Holmes and Leslie Bovee, shot on location in Hawaii, is the perfect example of Holmes the actor (instead of just Holmes the big, wonderful cock.) As with other classic porno, Eruption had a complete plot intermingled with hot sex. The story was very Magnum PI-like, and not just because it was filmed in Hawaii. Holmes plays an insurance sales guy who helps Bovee kill her husband to collect on a life insurance policy. The movie has plot twists and exciting moments that don't involve sex (seriously.)You get to watch the Holmes' penis rise to the occasion over and over again -these are captivating moments -getting this man hard is a slow, sensual process.
