Starring: Franco Corelli, Mike Davis, Gunther Keller, Ward Austin, Terry Bunz, Bob Duffy, Ed Horst, Lil' Shadow, Fred Slinger
Studio: Colt

Directed by: Rip Colt
Review brief: Cowboy Country Cast: Mike Davis, Lil' Shadow, Gunther Keller, Franco Corelli, Ed Horst, Bob Duffy, Terry Bunz, Ward Austin, Fred Slinger. Director: Rip Colt Release date: 7/15/01 Length: 92 min. (The cover claims approximately 120 min. I've deducted one-half star for false advertising.) Extras: A brief slide show (entirely box cover art) and a trailer for The Minute Man Series. Audio/visual quality: The cinematography is generally excellent. All scenes but one (Franco Corelli's) are shot on film. They're not as well preserved as some of Colt's workthe print isn't clean in Ed Horst's scene, for example, and the colors are very faded in Bob Duffy's scene. Still, these flaws didn't impede my enjoyment. The audio consists of a variety of music with some sound effects. A good portion of the soundtrack has a Western flavor; the remainder is more generic. Highlights: 1. The Bonus Mike Davis, Lil' Shadow, and Gunther Keller partner up in a vintage loop. Two cowboys are kissing at the stables when the third rides in with their pay.

Starring: Thor, Ed Dinakos, Franco Corelli, Carl Hardwick, Billy Herrington, JD Amos
Studio: Colt

Review brief: Naked Muscles Cast: Thor, J.D. Amos, Ed Dinakos, Chet O'Roark, Mark Bradshaw, Billy Herrington, Franco Corelli, Carl Hardwick. Director: Rip Colt Release date: 12/15/01 (box), 2002 (opening statement) Length: 106 min. (Box claims 120 min., which is correct only if it includes the preview running times.) Extras: Previews for Legendary Bodies and The Minute Man Series. Audio/visual quality: As usual, Colt excels at the technical and artistic aspects. This is some of the prettiest stuff around. Most of the footage appears to be fairly recent and shot on video, except for the Ed Dinakos and Mark Bradshaw scenes (very clean film prints). The ratio of full-body and close-up shots is pleasing. There is no location audiothe soundtrack is a playful mix of rock, jazz, and even classical themes. Highlights: Wet Thor is a blond, stoic, massively muscled man with Batman and Tweety Bird butt tattoos. He emerges from the pool in a clingy beige thong, showers, stir fries his dinner, exercises, practices poses, and goes to bed.

Starring: Jake Tanner, Bruce Craig, Ralph Whitaker
Studio: Colt

Review brief: Waterbucks Cast: Mark Bradshaw, Mark Gamble, Bruce Emory, Mario Garza, Steve Keslo, Jake Tanner, Bruce Craig, Ralph Whitaker. Director: Rip Colt Release date: 4/1/02 Length: 96 min. Extras: None except contact and website. Audio/visual quality: As usual, Colt excels at the technical and artistic aspects. This is some of the prettiest stuff around. The Waterbucks compilation is entirely shot on film, which lends a timeless look. (Were these made in the 1980s? The 1990s? Maybe even the late 1970s? I'm not sure, since the prints are usually very well preserved, but there appears to be a mix of eras.) The handheld footage in the final scene jitters a bit and has a more amateur feel, but the rest of the material is extremely polished and professional. The ratio of full-body and close-up shots is pleasing. There is no location audiothe score features gently energetic instrumentals of good quality. Highlights: Sunbeam Mark Bradshaw, all blond and bronzed, peels out of his wet suit to reveal striations in his musculature and wood in his willy.

Best of Colt 7 & 8, The

Release date: 3/27/2001
Reviewed on: 7/12/2005 by yogadame

Studio: Colt

Review brief: The Best of Colt 7 & 8 Cast: Ledermeister, Erron, Tom, Dick Trask, Dakota, Denny, Mel Bush, Bill Eld, Bruno, Toby. Director: Rip Colt Release date: 1/15/01 (compiled from 1970s films, and 1987 and 1988) Length: 98 min. (box cover claims approximately 120 min., which is an overestimate even if the running time of the bonus material is included) Extras: A slide show (mostly box cover art) and a trailer for The Minute Man Series. Audio/visual quality: These 8mm films display the expected quirks and charms of their age. Good use has been made of attractive settings and natural light. This film format is silent, but sound effects and limited amounts of vocalizations (including a slightly odd, deeply bass voice) have been dubbed. The score is all instrumental and covers quite a range, from eerie to amusing. I like it, but viewers who disagree can easily turn it off and play something different. Highlights (Part 7): 1. Ledermeister Ledermeister The hairy, hunky star of part 7 takes a shower, rides his motorcycle in the buff, and strokes himself on a country road.

Master Strokes

Release date: 2/14/2002
Reviewed on: 7/8/2005 by yogadame

Studio: Colt

Review brief: Master Strokes Cast: Vicent [sic] Kulinsky, Caio Garcia, Alex Villaboas, Allan Worth, Carlos Nucci, Gustavo Franco, Walter Soares, Dan Scarpa, Clovis Arnaud, Jaime Ayres, Henry Baynes, and Lucas Canigia (none identified by clip or scene, so I don't know who's who). Director: Max Julien Release date: 12/15/01 (box), 2002 (opening statement) Length: 88 min. Extras: Previews for Legendary Bodies and The Minute Man Series. Audio/visual quality: The videography is competent. The focus is consistently sharp, and the angles are pleasing. Artistic images are intercut at appropriate spots. The nonsex footage in the first scene is black-and-white; all sexual action is in color. The last scene incorporates weird "dropped frame" edits and intentional audio distortion, which does suit the mood. Well-done motion effects lend a more animated aspect to several still images.

Review brief: Long before there was VHSand seemingly eons before there were DVDsan enterprising studio calling itself Colt produced a series of one-reel films for gay viewers, sending thousands out to buy film projectors. The hallmark of this studio was to feature incredibly gorgeous ultra masculine men having sex together. It totally shattered the popular concession that gays were all wispy effeminates who lisped and had limp wrists. For those other than gays, it was jaw-dropping. For those who were gay, it was dick-lifting. Probablyfor fear of censorshipthe films were not overly explicit. Much of the sex was photographed the way our soft-core productions were filmed today. One knew they were sucking cock but one didnt always see it. Occasionally there was a brief glimpse to confirm ones suspicions that the dick was actually being sucked, but for the most part the action was masked or else dicks were simply kissed, lightly licked, stroked, and otherwise worshiped. And although these hunks were probably fucking, one never ever saw a dick going into an asshole.

Review brief: The Love Tub Heavily mustached Bob Randall is busy eating turkey and sipping champagne in a hot tub, when one of my favorite pre-condom stars, Moose, stops by. Moose has a very nice, hairy chest, and a beautiful uncut cock. Theres a little bit of oral here, but most of this scene is Moose shoving his moosecock up Bobs ass. Of course, we dont see much of the actual penetration (some body part always seems to get in the way). Its a pretty good scene. Bob has a particularly long and thick dick, unfortunately, you dont see much of it until the end. Hawaiian Heat Oh My God! Muscle Overload! Mike Betts and Rick Wolfmier are ripped! They sure as hell dont make guys like this anymore! Mike is running along the beach, when he catches Rick massaging his crotch while watching him. They head back into Ricks hut, where they do a whole lot of mutual masturbation and a little oral play. Damn, these guys looks great rolling around on the floor! Unfortunately, this is an oral only scene.

Review brief: Once again its time to delve into the porno vaults for some hot precondom action courtesy of Colt Studios. Can Parts 3 and 4 live up to the standard set in Parts 1 and 2? Read on to find out! The Bonus MMMM cowboys! Two built cowpokes are sucking face out in the stables when a third comes riding down the road and joins in on the action. OOOOh, boy, were are talking Marlboro Man rugged good looks here! Its a fairly short scene, with no anal, and no oral cum shots. Its still pretty hot, though. Hand Tooled Ah, Al Parker... One of the most famous cocks from the late 70s. Als looking pretty fine as he strokes that huge cock of his. Looks like the camera man cant control himself, as someones arm keeps reaching into the scene and grabbing hold of Al in all the right places. Then all of a sudden, a whole bunch of hands start working over Als entire body, playing special attention to that furry ass of his.

Review brief: Hey! Its more precondom sex from COLT! Jam packed with more mature hairy men than you can shake a stick at, The Best of Colt Films 5 & 6 has all the bareback sex and oral cumshots we have come to expect from the late 70s. So lets skip the intro and get right to the goods! Service Entry Everyones favorite bear, Moose, stops by Mike and Joes house to deliver some water. It doesnt take long for everyone to get naked and bump uglies. Moose gets a piece of both of their asses, and ends up blowing his load all over Mikes mouth. Very hot stuff here, especially if you love your men hairy. Overload Johnny Harden stars in a solo scene, where he showcases his huge cock and tight little ass. Solos are generally my thing, but this one is pretty good. Especially when Johnny spreads those cheeks of his and shoves his pucker into the camera. Johnny finishes off with quite a healthy cumshot, too. Muscle Beach Ok, this is easily my favorite scene.

Muscle Ranch

Release date: 4/24/2000
Reviewed on: 1/27/2001 by netguy

Starring: Ed Dinakos, Jake Tanner
Studio: Colt

Review brief: DONT BOTHER GOING TO THIS RANCH! Muscle Ranch is another poor quality DVD by Buckshot Productions (are all these productions from the 70s & 80s?) which is surprising since the models from Colt are generally hot. Not only is the video and sound quality not very good but the approximate running time is less than 60 min in length as well. Actually the running time wouldnt be that bad-I mean 60 min. would be a good length to get your rocks off-if only the video were good! The gist, or should I say jizz of the story, is that of rancher Ed Dinakos who receives an application for a farmhand who is none other than Jake Tanner and how they have some good ol man to man action. It starts with Ed getting the application in the mail as well as a muscle and theres a brief flashback of him imagining himself with Jake. Ed then proceeds indoors to take a look at his "new" video he got. The video stars Wayne Mills who is a poolside statue that comes to life, jumps in the pool, and then lifts some weights and flexes his muscles in the nude.
