Review brief: A feature from the early 80s. Kay Parker is a therapist brought in to coax withdrawn teen Tom Byron out of his shell. Mainly MF sex with one FF bathtub scene, one solo-female scene, and a brief j/o by Tom Byron. Your opinion will largely depend on whether you like Playboy or Hustler, as this is definitely the former. Sex is vanilla and not so explicit as modern stuff. Kay Parker is only in one sex scene. But overall it's fun and well done.

It's about three housewives Laura Lazare, Honey Wilder and Janey Robbins who day dream about having sex with the other husbands, three lawyers played by Eric Edwards, Hershel Savage and Jon Martin plus at men they come in contact with. Tom Byron for one. Directed by Robert McCallum, PRIVATE MOMENTS is a XXX comedy.

Review brief: Gary Graver was one of hardcore cinema's true master filmmakers along with Metzger, Weston, Damiano, DeRenzy, and Costello (which about names all the greats). While Society Affairs is one of his less known titles, it ranks as high in Graver's filmography as his first three masterpieces, 3 A.M., V The Hot One, and Ecstasy Girls.

Review brief: One of the best American hardcore films ever made (by director Gary Graver) has been given a TERRIBLE DVD release by Caballero. A true genre masterpiece which features masterful performances from Veronica Hart, Richard Bolla, and especially Lisa DeLeeuw and Samantha Fox. A superior film in every respect which deserves a lot more than it has gotten on DVD. For that reason, pay more and get an old VHS.

Review brief: Nu Tech's release of Gary Graver's 1975 classic film 3 A.M. is certainly one of the finest classic releases to come from any porn company. This superior film with masterful performances from Georgina Spelvin and one shot wonder Charles Hooper was the first hardcore feature from former Orson Welles protégé Graver (Amanda By Night, V The Hot One). Graver skillfully combines Bergman like cinematographic techniques with almost existential philosophies, resulting in one of the most accomplished hardcore films ever made.

Review brief: Most of what I wrote about "The Ecstasy Girls" also applies to this film. This is a 1982 Harold Lime production, directed by Robert McCallum. With Veronica Hart and Annette Haven, there's more star power in this flick, but the final product is not quite as good as the wonderful "Ecstasy Girls." The plot is "Ecstasy Girls" in reverse. Here, Georgina Spelvin is the publisher of a soft-core porn mag called "Panther," featuring centerfolds of smart college girls. Some morality guardians form a committee called Morality over Madness (MOM), and try to put Panther out of business. Spelvin has to round up her centerfold graduates to go out and seduce the committee members, retain evidence of the hanky-panky, and ultimately blackmail the members into ceasing their assault on Panther magazine.

Review brief: Porn movies from the late 80s sure seem strange. Mainstream movies from the era don't look a whole lot different from ones today, but the porn looks like its from another planet. Hairy pussies, teased hair, no tattoos, no piercings, such tepid sex scenes - how did we ever get off on this stuff? We know it wasn't made on another planet because Randy, Hershel, Tom and Peter, all amusingly svelte here, are still going strong, but the starlets are long forgotten. Well, almost forgotten. Nikki and Beverly play hookers who want to leave the fuckee-suckee life, and somehow land jobs on a small town newspaper. They proceed to fuck and suck their way to the big scoop, exposing an Arab plot to take over Dennys and Bob's Big Boy. Paul Thomas is credited with the script. Nikki was one of the forerunners of the teenie look and she gave good head. Amber Lynn and Beverly generate some good enthusiasm, but director Robert McCallum isn't very creative in building any heat. Bryttny Stryker is the one performer who would fit right in todays far more intense environment.

Review brief: Year: 1985 Length: 86 minutes Even though this is part of the NuTech line of Classic dvd collecion series this is certainly no classic. You might think it is by looking at the cast involved (Harry Reems, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, Amber Lynn) and directed by Robert McCallum, but unfortunately the sex and the storyline to this movie are severely lacking. The plot to this story is supposed to be something similar to that of a soap opera, but I didn't find it to be any more similar to a soap opera than any other porn film I've seen. Basically the problem is that there was no plot at all and this is a problem in a porn film that pretends to have a plot. This movie pretended to have a story line and it had just enough to get in the way but not enough to make any sense, so this is one problem. Either they should have just went wall to wall sex with this one or have developed the story line more fully and made a full feature sex film out of this movie.

Review brief: Here is a Harold Lime/Robert McCallum classic from 1982 that is still famous over 20 years later. It won six adult film critic awards, including best picture. Because it was filmed near the end of the "golden age," there aren't quite as many exterior shots as there would have been in movies a few years older. The plot involves a madam named Amanda (Veronica Hart) who, as a favor to her former pimp and lover (Jamie Gillis), sets up an S & M session for a local politician. The girls that she sends for this session (Lisa de Leeuw and Samantha Fox) are later found dead. R. Bolla plays the straight-arrow homicide detective trying to solve the case, without much help from Amanda. To make matters worse, there's a corrupt vice squad cop (Ron Jeremy) who is constantly getting in the way. By today's standards, this is couples' fare, with relatively short sex scenes, and loads of plot. It's so good-hearted, it could almost be on the Family Channel. Veronica Hart gets to over-act and ham it up ridiculously. It's a good movie, but a poor DVD.

Review brief: This 1984 release from Cal Vista is a couple of years too recent to be considered "Golden Age," but is definitely a classic. Produced by Sam Norvell and directed by Robert McCallum, it features 70s porn superstar Annette Haven, along with John Leslie, Harry Reems, R. Bolla, and Hershel Savage. It also features "Angel" who was breifly the rage during the mid-1980s. She does a scene with Leslie and another with R. Bolla. My favorite performer is the under-celebrated Janey Robbins. She had a great body and was a very enthusiastic sex performer. Robbins also has a cute Minnesota accent (like the female sheriff in "Fargo"). Here, she does two scenes, one with R. Bolla and one with Hershel Savage (a purported incest scene). Strangely, it appears that this movie was intended to have a sequel, but I've never seen it, and I don't think it was ever made. Nu-tech has done an acceptable job on the DVD transfer; it looks much better than the tape I had. Nu-tech also features Dolby surround sound, but I couldn't detect any improvement in the sound.

Review brief: Length: 86:32 Year: 1981 Veronica Hart....as Amanda R. Bolla.........as Detective Ambrose Hart Jamie Gillis.....as Friday Ron Jeremy.......as Vice Cop The Caballero dvd of Amanda By Night is presented in fullscreen which appears to be the correct aspect ratio of this movie. The quality of the movie is excellent considering the age and it appears to have been transferred directly from film and not from a vhs tape as some of the older classics have been. It doesn't look as good as a new film but it's certainly not a disappointing looking dvd at all. The audio is quite good as well with no noticeable hard to understand spots. The story in this movie is what really sets this movie apart from the crowd. The story in this one is a murder mystery. Amanda (Veronica Hart) a call girl who works for Friday (Jamie Gillis) who talks Amanda into getting 2 of her hooker friends into meeting a client of Fridays for an S&M session. One of the hookers makes fun of the man they meet and he accidentally kills her.
