Review brief: This is a pretty good reminder of why most early to mid-nineties adult films are forgotten. With a thin plot, short sex, and lackluster editing this one's easily passed by without missing much.

Review brief: The cover slick for Vista Valley P.T.A. says “Jessie St. James is the next in a long line of teachers to take on a trouble class of high schollers in a small town with beautiful suburban exterior that hides an underbelly of dysfunctional relationships, sexual deviancy and profound rebellion.

Review brief: Anthony Spinelli's best film from the 80s gets inferior treatment on DVD from VCX whose shoddy tape based transfer leaves much to be desired visually from this otherwise all but flawless film.

Review brief: Anthony Spinelli had a thing for hookers. Well, at least he had a thing for making movies which involve prostitution. By far the best of these "hooker dramas" was his 1976 masterpiece, Cry For Cindy, which was as far as I am concerned, the very first attempt to actually deal with prostitution in a hardcore film. Confessions, made the same year as the far superior V-The Hot One, is another one of Spinelli's hooker dramas, but a far less successful one. Similarly plotted to V, Confessions involves a young woman who leaves her unsatisfactory marriage to pursue a career in prostitution. Confessions is not a bad film by any means. The direction, acting, photography, etc. are all quite good, but considering the similarity between its plot and that of the superior V, it leaves something to be desired in terms of originality... However, I still give this film a mild recommendation for it is never truly dull and actually yielded some good plot twists. SEX: Lots of it. A/V Quality: It's TVX, therefore bad.

Review brief: Anthony Spinelli's "Sex World" is a movie that I have been wanting to see for a very long time. I finally obtained a copy of this 1978 classic and the wait was well worth it. As an adult movie with a real plot and actors who could actually act, this film is effective on several levels: As erotica, a character study, and a psychological drama. There are many characters to keep track of here and the movie is practically a who's who of porn in 1978. The story revolves around a group of people taking a chartered bus to a resort known as "Sex World". The characters include Annette Haven as a lesbian left by her lover (Cris Cassidy), who comes to the resort looking for a heterosexual encounter; an adult movie enthusiast (Sharon Thorpe) who can't express her desires in real life; a racist (John Leslie) who is slowly seduced by black beauty Desiree West, and several couples having various sexual problems. The sex scenes themselves are pretty short, since they are so numerous in number, but they are all beautifully shot and uniquely erotic.

Review brief: Vaguely based on the popular song of the time, "Harper Valley PTA," this old-school movie-with-a-plot is about a new teacher (Jessie St. James) and the students and parents of Vista Valley High School. Forget the plot, because like most porn movies it's just a method of setting scenes and it's pretty worthless. The real attraction of this movie is its stars, which reads like a who's who of porn circa 1980. Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay (credited on screen as Lexmax), Juliett Anderson, Kay Parker (on screen as Kay Taylor) Jamie Gillis and John Leslie are all in their prime. By modern standards the scenes are often missing something--the camera doesn't get every little thing the way it does now, and a lot of scenes seem shorter than one might expect. Almost everyone gets only one sex-scene in the movie, including Kay and Juliett, who would become two of porn's biggest stars, and Jessie St. James, the star of the movie. The DVD itself is no-frills. It divides the movie into six chapters, so expect a lot of fast-forwarding if you want to see something in particular.

Review brief: Plumb And Dumber Pleasure Studios Production Year: 1995 Director: Anthony Spinelli Run Time: 84 minutes Women: Sid Deuce Kimberly Kupps Rachel Love Whitney Wonders J.R. Carrington Dallas Men: Johnathan Morgan Alex Sanders I rented this DVD because of the attractive women on the box cover and because I wanted to check out a feature film since I had not seen one for years. The women on the cover fit the mold of the busty blonde bombshells that were so popular in the 1990s. Also, I wanted to see how I liked these sorts of movies compared to the all sex features of today. Dallas plays the role of Johnathan Morgans wife. She kicks him out of the house because he is too boring. Sex Scene 1: (17:30) At this point the scene switches to a sex scene between Sid Deuce and Alex Sanders. Sid Deuce is a busty blonde dressed to the 9s in a short black dress with black stockings. She and Alex are making out on a couch. There is a lot of foreplay here which is almost always missing from todays films.

Review brief: Year of Release: 1980 Writer/Director: Wes Brown (aka Anthony Spinelli) Producer: Arthur Cutter Cinematographer: Jack Post DVD Runtime: 78 min. 43 sec. Actors Juliet Anderson.......Aunt Peg Norton John Holmes...........John Jamie Gillis.............Franco Serena...................Susan Michael Ranger.......Michael Ranger Michael Morrison.....Jack (Sheilas father) Seka..........................Seka Shirley Woods (aka Sharon Kane)....Sheila Dotty Hart Review Right after the credits finish, we are thrust into a sex scene with a naked John Holmes (once again playing a character aptly named 'John') lying next to a brunette named Pam. John rolls over to her and as things look like they are ready to take off, we hear, "Cut!" It's a film set loaded with lights, cameras and crew. Producer Peg Norton (Juliet Anderson) calls a break for lunch and the set clears. John tells Pam to hang back because he needs to talk to her, and before you know it they are fucking...er, I mean rehearsing.

Review brief: Although not the best movie of the era, Nothing To Hide may well be the quintessential Golden Age Classic. If youve ever wanted to know what separates the Golden Age movies from contemporary classics then look no further. The movie revolves around the relationship between Jack (John Leslie) and his slow witted/ retarded buddy, Lenny (Richard Pacheco). Jack is a smooth talking ladies man who effortlessly moves from one conquest to the next. Lenny, on the other hand, has no luck with the ladies - despite Jacks constant promises to set him up. However, when Lenny falls for a similarly awkward girl Jack has to face the prospect of life without his buddy. If your exposure to porn is limited to contemporary product either feature or gonzo this is going to be quite a change of pace. Even the narrative driven couples porn of today is a fair distance from movies such as this. For a start the sex scenes are far shorter than would be acceptable today (which, from a story telling perspective at least, is no bad thing).

Review brief: Cast: Jesie St. James, Shirley Woods (aka Sharon Kane), Juliet Anderson, Cris Cassidy, John Leslie, Richard Pacheco and Aaron Stuart in sex roles; Dorothy LeMay, Holly McCall, Anthony Spinelli and Carl Regal in non-sex roles. Director: Anthony Spinelli Production date: ©1979 in end credits; original release date of 1980 according to IAFD; DVD production date of 6/5/01 on box cover. Length: 80 min. Extras: Diesel's review at AdultDVDEmpire.com reports that the DVD includes a gallery of random freeze-framed stills. I am unable to view it on my copy, however. The only other "extras" are ads. Audio/visual quality: Print quality is very rough for first few minutes. Fortunately, the worst flickering subsides before the sex begins. The presence of blemishes, artifacts and video noise is probably acceptable given the age of the movie. The camerawork and editing are quite nicemuch less choppy than a few of the other classics I've seen. The emphasis falls on medium-length shots, with pleasing pans between faces and genitals.

Review brief: Running Time: 90 min. Production Date: 1977 according to RAME, 1978 or 1979 according to the VCX copyright at the top and bottom of the screen during the feature Director: Anthony Spinelli Cast: Amber Hunt, Leslie Bovee, Chris Cassidy, Abigail Clayton, Carole Tong, Desiree West, Annette Haven, Maureen Spring, Kay Parker, Sharon Thorpe, Johnnie Keyes, John Leslie, Joey Silvera, Jack Wright, Kent Hall, Peter Andrews, and Roberto Ramos Initial Expectations: YogaGrrl really enjoyed this feature, who I normally agree with very well. Flashs review wasnt so kind, who also normally shows some great taste, so Im not quite sure what to expect. Initial Reaction: Its just why people still long for golden age porn. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants plot, chemistry, and real people Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants implants, razor burn, and extreme sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit on the muffled side, but normally well balanced.

Review brief: Cast: Leslie Bovee, Kay Parker, Sharon Thorpe, Desiree West, Annette Haven, Amber Hunt, Carole Tong, Abigail Clayton, Eileen Dover, Suzette Holland (aka Cris Cassidy), Kent Hall, Jack Wright, John Leslie, Peter Johns, Joe Civera (aka Joey Silvera), Roberto Ramos and Johnnie Keyes in sex roles; plus 20 credited actors in non-sex roles. Director: Anthony Spinelli Production date: The original copyright is 1977, but the DVD appears to be mastered from a 1979 print. (The DVD release date was 5/14/01.) Length: 90 min. Extras: None. There's not even a crummy web site ad. Unlike some early VCX releases, however, Sex World is recorded on a single track and does have a time code for easier navigation. I suppose we must be grateful for small mercies. False advertising: The box lists an "Animated Main Menu," an "Animated Jump to Scene" and "Photo Shots." There is no photo gallery. The main menu is not animated. The chapter menu does have an eight-second background loop, but the nine chapter stops are illustrated by stills.

Review brief: Running Time: 72 min. Production Date: 10 / 22 / 1999 Director: Mitchell & Anthony Spinelli Cast: Nina, Peach, Goldie, Stevie Rose, Steve Taylor, and Earl Slate Initial Expectations: Its about time a few people came out with a feature or two featuring all natural girls. Im really looking forward to it! Initial Reaction: Its almost average at best. Who Should Watch It : Fans of all natural women and a basic gonzo style Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants average, let alone above camera work Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty clear and fairly well balanced, but there are a couple minor background noises. The video has a little bit of grain, but is even out to the edge of the screen. There are also a few shadows, which is almost to be expected with outdoor scenes and a low budget gonzo style. Music: Its your typical techno-dance style porn music. It ranges from being just a little too loud to being the only audio.

Review brief: Old timers will recognize the reference to "Harper Valley P.T.A.," a story song written by Tom T. Hall and recorded by Jeannie C. Riley in 1968. The song went to number one on both the pop and country charts, and later became the concept of a 1978 movie starring Barbara Eden, as well as a short-lived TV series also starring Eden. This film was shot around 1979 or 1980, and it is hot!! Jessie St. James is the star, but there is a lot of good female talent including Dorothy LeMay, Kay parker, and Sharon Kane. This film is surprisingly mean spirited, and some people will be disturbed by depictions of incest (compare the Kane-Gillis coupling in this film with the duo's scene in Michael Ninn's New Wave Hookers, almost 20 years later). The film is plot driven and the sex scenes are typically much shorter than today, but they are very effective. The film was shot on film, and the DVD transfer is very good. The extras are the usual from Nu-Tech, nothing spectacular.

Review brief: Director: Anthony Spinelli Writer: Michael Ellis Videographer: Jack Remy Running length: 97 minutes D.O.P. 1981 Female cast: Chelsea Manchester, Erica Boyer, Tigr, Misty Regan, Holly McCall, Liz Randolph, Raven Turner, Pat Manning Male cast: John Leslie, Richard Pacheco, Eric Stein, Anthony Spinelli Audio/Video: For being over 20 years old, the picture isn't bad at all. The audio suffers in just a few places, making the voices somewhat muffled, but in general it was very watchable. Much of it was filmed outdoors, yet wind noise was minimal. Extras: None Condoms: One, Richard Pacheco's scene The Movie: I liked Justine: Nothing To Hide 2 so well, I thought I'd check out the original that started the series. Come to find out, there's absolutely nothing that ties them together, and NTH #1 is actually the sequel to another classic, Talk Dirty To Me. Sounds confusing, but you need not see one to appreciate the other. I've seen very few of the 'classics' of porn, but I'm starting to appreciate them more.

Review brief: Starring: Jessie St.James, Desiree Cousteau, Georgina Spelvin, Richard Pacheco, Mike Horner Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Wistfully conjuring daydreams and calling them goals, some often say that before they die they'd like to travel the world, or finally read the complete works of Shakespeare. To those people, let me say this: Everything worth seeing in Europe is on top of a hill, and the important characters in Shakespeare all die. Actually, I don't recall anyone dying in A Midsummer Night's Dream, but that's beside the point. What I'm getting at is that these lofty goals are frequently not worth pursuing. Europe is exhausting and Shakespeare is sad. Instead, may I recommend you turn your cultural attentions to classic porn? Nobody gets stabbed with a poisoned sword and everyone gets laid. And sometimes, they have funny haircuts. One of the best, and most overlooked among the "good ol' day" roster of porn titles is Easy.

Review brief: Starring: Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay, Sharon Kane, Kay Parker, Juliet Anderson, Brooke West, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, John Seaman Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Inspired, of course, by Harper Valley PTA, Vista Valley PTA puts Jessie St. James in the Barbara Eden role of a new teacher at a troubled small town high school. The original movie was a comedy based on a popular song. This time, we know from where the inspiration comes, but it's not so easy to label this as comedy, melodrama, or anything else. I suppose the term "porn" will have to suffice. Shot in the early 80's, Vista Valley PTA is considered a classic if only for it's age, but God bless NuTech Digital for releasing it despite it's dated look.

Review brief: "Easy" is a Golden Classic release by NuTech of a movie first released on film in 1979. The first thing that piqued my interest about this title was the prominent placement on the case saying all sex scenes are multiple angle. I was interested in where they found the extra footage and hoped this would be explained in the commentary. When the alternate angle icon showed up on the screen, I switched angles, to find that the "multiple angle" was merely the film reversed. There is no extra footage, and reversing the film has an interesting side effect, the lips don't match the voice. Throughout the rest of the movie, the angle icon becomes a constant reminder of the wool the studio tried to pull over the eyes of the viewers.Getting more into the action of the movie, this seems typical of 1970s porn and reminds me of Insatiable, another classic movie. Considering this is a film transfer, the video is surprisingly clear with good color reproduction. There are some visable flaws, but this look to be from the original film media, and not a side effect of being transfered.

Review brief: You know that when you have a classic on your hands youre going to see things you dont see in todays porn. Easy is all about what you wont see in the modern age of porn: a student who grabs his teacher after class and makes her lick his cum covered dick; a 17 yr old boy who breaks into teachers house and turns her on at knifepoint; a woman tongue fucking a guys ass; a catfight which results in one woman raping/seducing the other; full-body camera shots, kissing, foreplay, lots of bush, and tube socks. Exited yet? Well, you should be cause Easy is one of the most arousing flicks on DVD.Filmed in 1979, Easy was Jesie St. James first starring role. I wouldnt have known that if not for the Jim Holliday/ Jill Kelly commentary. Jesie appears the professional in every way. The plot is basically a few years in the life of a schoolteacher turned slut.
