Review brief: The mischievous, barbarian chieftan, Randy Spears, and his hell-raising horde will stop at nothing to rend a powerful, magical crystal from the hands of its rightful owners in "The New Barbarian", a very good, 1990 release from VCA and Henri Pachard. With its inexplicable ability to bring about time-travel, this sexually-fueled gem is certainly a prize worth seeking...and, for Victoria Paris and her peaceful people, a prize worth protecting. A blend of sex and (mild) violence ensues, as the two groups wrestle for control of the piece. Harking back to the days of the old barbarian films of the 1980s while concomitantly mixing in that same era's pornographic charm, this one is most certainly rife with nostalgic value. The sex is also steamy...again, in that 80s style...and seeing Victoria Paris sex it up in her prime is always a welcomed occurrence. For the right crowd--fans of 80s fantasy, porno nostalgia, Victoria Paris, and / or quirky features--this one is worthy.

Review brief: This year marks the 40th anniversary of the production of "The Opening of Misty Beethoven", the 1970's adult film classic from director Radley Metzger and VCA. Starring Constance Money as a young prostitute whom the late Jamie Gillis chances upon while plying her trade in a Parisian theater, this flick traces her journey from an erotically uninspired bore to a talk-of-the-town, world-class sexpot. Indeed, under Gillis' tutelage and with his wealthy friend's (Jacqueline Beudant's) fortune, Money transforms from a hapless, young harlot unwilling to suck a dick to a seasoned pro, capable of pleasuring a group of men, turning homosexuals with her charms, and ultimately seducing the most powerful name in men's publishing and his mistress (Gloria Leonard).

Review brief: Pretty Peaches is a dark comedy that is done within the adult medium. The story is interesting and the film was well made. The limited edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack that Vinegar Syndrome has released is absolutely amazing and should be a must buy for any fans of the film.

Review brief: When a handful of the brunette goddess, Racquel Darrian's, friends stop by to partake in a big payout treasure hunt, the only booty that they ultimately find is their own...which suits them all just fine. Such is the case in "Racquel's Treasure Hunt", a fairly standard--though still fun--1989 release from VCA.

Review brief: It's 80s punk-kink to the max when the lovely ladies of Jamie Gillis' and Jack Baker's freaky escort agency don their headphones and take in the intoxicating tunes of their new wave music. With the sexy sounds both impairing their judgment and overriding their inhibitions, these young women can (and will) do just about anything...and their assorted customers are most certainly the winners. Such is the case in the Dark Brothers' classic production, "New Wave Hookers", from VCA Pictures.

Review brief: Bill Eagle's TEMPTATIONS (1976) follows an old voyeur Howard Hugh (Jake Teague) and his personal assistant Raymond (John Leslie) cruising the streets with stops for the old guy to watch couples sucking and fucking throughout the first half of the flick. Enter his wife Rochelle (busty and beautiful Jennifer Welles) who discovers a video tape of a threesome (including Raymond) then makes a tape of her own in this terrific xxx comedy from the classic era. Standard frame. 80 minutes.

Review brief: Kemal Horulu directs and edits WOMAN IN LOVE (1980, Caballero Home Video) with the lovely Laurien Dominque playing Christine Warren, a bored wife, who breaks from her dull hubby and their life on Long Island for a new job and other encounters in Manhattan. In a major role, Vanessa De Rio plays Simone Foster, a sex crazed catalyst for most of the sexual shenanigans that Christine encounters. Cinematographer Larry Revine beautifully captures the indoor and outdoor adventures of Christine as she must decide between two very different life styles. Standard frame. 85 minutes.

Review brief: The Zodiac Rapist Grindhouse Collection combines the two Sam Dobbs films together on one release. The films are fun and lighthearted. However, After Hours Cinema has altered both films, one considerably, which makes it hard to recommend this set.

Review brief: Sex Wish is a gritty, and at times disturbing, adult take on Death Wish which fails at being erotic however works as an adult feature film. The poor picture quality of this disc hinders the release and makes the Cal Vista / VCX release of the film the one to look for instead.

Review brief: Sex Wish is a gritty, and at times disturbing, adult take on Death Wish which fails at being erotic however works as an adult feature film. The quality of the Cal Vista / VCX release is better than the previously released Alpha Blue Archives version but is sadly missing the film related extras from that release.

Review brief: Jane Bond Meets Thunderballs is your average mid-to-late 80s shot on video feature movie, it is light on plot but features decent sex scenes. Caballero's presentation of the movie is adequate.

Young Marrieds, The

Release date: 7/1/2014
Reviewed on: 8/5/2014 by flash

Studio: Alpha Blue Archives

Directed by: Ed Wood
Review brief: The Young Marrieds collection from Alpha Blue Archives, fully titled The Young Marrieds Plus the Lost Films of Alice Friedland Five-Film Collection, brings Ed Wood's believed to be lost film The Young Marrieds along with the films Kiss My Analyst, Analyze Your Sex, and The Adventures of Flash Beaver. Discerning readers will note the list only includes four films, not five as the full box title states. The obvious highlight of the collection for many interested people will be the only hardcore film on the release The Young Marrieds, being one of Ed Wood's lost films, which honestly is a rather disappointing feature. Analyze My Sex is honestly not worth watching by anyone for any reason. Kiss My Analyst was not an awful but has a sub-par transfer. The Adventures of Flash Beaver was an awful film with a transfer that was not of watchable quality.

Review brief: Behind the Green Door: The Sequel is an inferior film to its predecessor. This film feels jumbled and like it forgot itself along the way. The sex is enjoyable though and the film seconds as a safe sex instructional. The video on this release is beautiful but it comes on a DVD-R, which some players rejected.

Review brief: Vinegar Syndrome's double feature of The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio and A Clock Work Blue combine two films from director Eric Jeffrey Haims. The limited edition Blu-ray and DVD combination pack is limited to 1,000 copies. While The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio is okay, it may not be a title that you would want to view more than once. A Clock Work Blue is a fun release.

Review brief: Blonde Fire is the final film in the Johnny Wadd film series that Bob Chinn had any involvement with. Blone Fire isn't the greatest film in the series and I wish that the series had a stronger film to end with. That aside, the film is enjoyable and has a decent plot and some enjoyable sex scenes. I-Candy's transfer for the film is disappointing.

Review brief: The China Cat is the tenth film in the Johnny Wadd film series and a spoof on Charlie's Angels. While not the best entry in the series, the film is still a fun one and worth watching. I-Candy's transfer does leave something to be desired though.

Review brief: Sexcula is a bizarre adult film to have come out of the 70s. The concept behind the initial story holds promise but the execution, and I am assuming severe production issues, render the film to a jumbled mess that is hard to watch. Impulse Pictures has done a great job with the video and audio presentation on the disc.

It's one of the top classic films of the era and deserves to be seen.

Review brief: Alpha Blue Archives' XXX Spy Sex-O-Rama collects three titles from the early 70s, all with a spy theme, Agent 69, The California Connection, and Jane Bond. Two of the films, Agent 69 and Jane Bond, aren't really worth watching at all. The third, The California Connection, is an enjoyable film that is well worth watching. However the film is incomplete on this release. Alpha Blue Archives poor quality masters make this release not worth watching.

Review brief: While the concept of the film is ripe for a good adult version and writer Arthur King has proven in the past that he can write some incredibly good adult films, Maxine is a relatively standard 80s shot on video presentation never rising to where it could. That combined with Excalibur Films' poor distribution of the movie makes it an easy one to pass on.

Review brief: Sex Wars is a fun comedic sci-fi parody to come out of the mid-80s. The story is engaging and the sex scenes are well done. The picture is in good shape but the release is flawed by only being available as a manufacture on demand disc.
