Police Detective George Lee (Mike Horner) nails a seemingly sweet and innocent girl in the evidence room of the LAPD. During the act, she rips off some important evidence from a case. Horner gets suspended from the force as a result, so he turns to his longtime friend and private investigator Peter Magnum (Lee Stone), who tries to get the evidence back and get George reinstated on the force.
Young and Dangerous is presented in the full frame aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film. The film was originally filmed on video not on film. The video presentation is perfect with no visible blemishes or artifacts present. The picture is clear and sharp with good color levels.
The 2.0 English stereo track is well done. The audio is clear and easy to hear throughout the film. The track is your standard monaural dialog with the music in stereo. The audio special effects are weak and lacked punch. There are no other language tracks and no subtitle options available.
There are six chapters available from the main menu for Young and Dangerous, making one chapter for each of the sex scenes present in the film. Since there is also a time code, time searching is also available providing decent ability to navigate through the disc.
At first sight, Young and Dangerous appears to be a bare bones disc release, but disc two is nothing but a massive 62 minute Behind the Scenes documentary. The documentary is a good watch and covers the making of several of the sex scenes, interviews with the stars and some candid moments from on the set. On disc one there are Trailers for Platinum Blonde, Blonde in Black Leather, Dangerous Obsession and Fallen Angels. Main Menus Translated into Five Languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese are exactly that, just the main menus are translated of disc one. The film is still in English and disc two only has English menus. The addition of the substantial Behind the Scenes documentary compliments the film well and makes for a nice well-rounded product.
Young and Dangerous is another entry in Bob Chinn's Peter Magnum erotic thriller series and should please fans of the series. Although a far cry from what Chinn made during the golden age, he has still put together a decent film. The film has the standard adult film fluff story line, just deep enough to link together the sex scenes, some of which actually fit the story, and hold your interest, but light enough so that it doesn't get in the way of the sex.
The film sports a nice looking female cast, albeit there is too much body jewelry present for my taste. The male cast is your average Bob Chinn/Peter Magnum fare. None of the cast has any exceptional ability to act however, for the most part, no one is too bad at acting. Two deviations into the very poor acting department though are Mike Horner, who's acting range is shown in an atrocious over-the-top drunk scene and Lee Stone, who as I have stated many times in the past, has the acting ability of a well-schooled thespian cucumber. Sometimes I wish that Bob Chinn would kill off Peter Magnum so he could start a new series with a better adult actor as the lead.
Despite the shortcomings in the casts acting ability, they are good at having sex, which, lets face it, is the point behind adult films. The sex scenes, although rather tame, are very well done. This film also contains an above average lesbian scene in it.
The Money Shot:
Young and Dangerous is well done for a modern adult film, but will leave fans of the classics wanting more from the film. Those who like a plot in their adult film will be satisfied by this venture. Those who can't stand a plot or like nastier sex will most likely be disappointed. This film is a good rental/purchase for couples as well.
