During a metal detector scavenger hunt in Intigo, the remains of a human corpse are found.  The local law enforcement, Michael Scorpio, brings in psychic Chloe Jones to try and help them find out who the mysterious body is.  Through her visions, the story of the town of Intigo’s troubled past involving gangsters, prohibition agents and the local whorehouse comes to light.

Sweetwater is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film.  This print is in beautiful shape with a nice crisp picture which includes no blemishes, artifacts or glitches to be seen.  The colors are true to life.  There is grain present in one of the scenes, but I believe this was due to filming issues and not due to a problem with the master.

The available audio track for the film is an English 2.0 Stereo track, which works well for the film, but doesn’t do all that it could.  The dialog is clear and easy to hear throughout the film and the music sounds good when coming from your stereo.  In one scene there is an echoing problem with the audio, but I believe this is due to filming issues and not a problem with the master.  The only other issue with the audio, is that some of the gunshots sound flat.  This is more of a special effects issue, but I still wanted to note it.  No other language tracks and no subtitle options are available.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are twelve chapters available from the main menu for Sweetwater.  They are identified by a video clip from the scene that they go to.  They do a decent job of breaking up the film so that the viewer can find a general area of the film rather easily.  There is a time code for the feature film, so time searching is available.

Special Features:
As with the other New Sensations discs that I have seen that have been distributed by Digital Sin, there are few extras on the disc and very few that have anything to do with the feature film.  On this disc, there is only one extra that relates to the feature film.  This extra, the photo gallery contains 24 photos that you have to flip through.

The rest of the extras on the disc have no relation to the feature film whatsoever.  There are trailers for Hearts & Minds and Love Machine .  There is an advert for New Sensations website and company info for Digital Sin.  On the flip side of the disc, there are roughly 30 previews for other titles from Digital Sin.  The previews are arranged by category and series and offer the box cover for the film that you click on to see the preview.  There are also interviews with Bridgette, Lisa, Jewel De’Nyle, Kate, Mariah, Vanity, Vanity, Jewel, Taylor, Lisa Romero and Hunter.  The interviews are short and also contain a short masturbation scene with the star.  The extras on the flip side of the disc are the standard extras that appear on all of New Sensations recent releases.

Sweetwater is a plot-based adult film, which will turn away some viewers.  The plot for the film is very well done for an adult film.  Although it meanders here and there, overall the plot is great.  The plot scenes don’t exist just to pad the time in between the sex scenes and viewers who follow the plot will find themselves actually becoming engrossed in it.

The photography in the film is great.  Scenes that take place in the present are filmed in color and scenes that take place in the past are filmed in two colors, almost black and white, but not quite which makes the scenes appear old.  This style works well for the film.  Viewers will be happy to know that sex scenes that take place in the past are filmed in color, although the very beginning of each one and the very end are filmed in the two color method.

There is one scene that there appeared to be some problems with while filming.  There is a scene that takes place in a mine shaft and the picture in that scene is very grainy, probably due to poor lighting or having to slow down the film speed due to poor lighting.  Given the good picture quality of the rest of this film, this scene really stands out.  The audio for this scene has an echo as well that nobody, for some reason, bothered to correct.

The biggest problem to face this film is the casting.  Many of the male and female cast members are marked by tattoos, which doesn’t really fit in with the story and ends up detracting from the film.  Chloe Jones’s forte is not acting, which is too bad.  Red Ezra has put together a good film.  After all the work he has put into creating a good film, it would have been nice if he could have gotten adult talent that could act, as there are adult stars that have decent acting ability out there, and cast members that aren’t all marked up with tattoos.

The sex scenes are well done although some viewers will find the scenes far too tame for their liking.  Couples, on the other hand, should find this film to be an excellent selection choice.  Not all of the sex scenes in the film feel obtrusive.  Instead they fit into the film, there are a few though that still feel forced, but you can’t have everything.  The scenes look good and the cast has good sexual chemistry between them.  The sexual themes in the film are oral and vaginal sex with lesbianism.  For viewers who care about such things, condoms are used in some scenes but not in others.

Much work went into the plot portions of the film.  First off, the film starts out with an excellently done gun fight.  This scene is more than I ever would have hoped for from a porn.  The sets are excellent as well.  Most of them even appeared to have been built, or chosen, for this film specifically as the fit perfectly.  With the exception of a pink condom, the period costuming keeps the mood in the film going.  All this put together makes for one good film.

The music used in the film is a mixed bag.  For the scenes taking place in the past, period sounding 20s big band music is used, even for the sex scenes that take place in the past.  This is excellent and enhances the mood of the film.  For the scenes taking place in the present, synthesized techno music is used, which is very unfortunate.  This drags these scenes down to the average level.

The Money Shot:
Sweetwater is a fun film that rises above the average and gives viewers who enjoy plot-based erotica a great film.  Viewers who like tamer sex, a decent plot and couples should find this film enjoyable.  Viewers who require nasty sex, anal sex or hate a plot will want to pass on this title.
