NOTE: This is a SOFTCORE movie. That
means no penetration, no cum shots, and no
erections. What does that leave, you might ask?
Since Iíve never seen a softcore movie before, I
had a few assumptions going in. The main two
1). Since they couldnít show any penetration
or hard cocks, they would focus on the more
romantic side of sex: kissing, cuddling, massage,
2). Without all the explicit sex going on, I
figured there would be more time to flesh out an
Turns out I was wrong on both accounts. The sex
isnít any more romantic than what you see in
hardcore porn; itís just shot from weird angles
so that you donít see anything too X-rated. What
sex there is rarely lasts more than 3 or 4
minutes, compared to an average hardcore scene
that lasts about 15. So what do they fill the
rest of the movie with? Well, thereís strippers
go-go dancing, guys playing soccer on the beach,
some naked horseplay on the bluffs, and a heavy
dose of Italian scenery.
There is a story here, but that doesnít stop them
from switching over to some random sex scene that
has nothing to do with the plot whatsoever.
Apparently the story is inspired by the novel
Death in Venice, but since Iíve never read
that, I donít know how closely it follows it.
The Summoner is a softcore version of Lucas
Kazanís Journey to Italy 2: DESIRE. Jake Andrews
stars as the confused husband who leaves his wife
and takes a vacation in Italy to help clear his
head. His first night in Italy, he heads to the
local gay club, where strippers shake their un-
erect cocks and patrons get busy in the backroom.
The next morning at breakfast, he falls head over
heals in lust with one of the local Italian boys
at the next table. For the next couple of days,
he ends up stalking the poor boy (but finds the
time to make out with some random Italian dudes
along the way). Does Jake finally get a chance
to meet the young Italian stud heís been
fantasizing about throughout the movie? Youíll
have to tune in to see.
I really enjoyed the background music, which
consisted mainly of romantic Italian operas. The
video is crystal clear, and the Italian scenery
There arenít a whole lot of extras in The
Summoner. Only a slideshow and a couple previews
for other Lucas Kazan Italian softcore movies.
Like I said before, Iíve never seen a softcore
flick before, so I donít know how this compares
to other softcore DVDs out there. I image if
softcore is your thing, than The Summoner will
probably more than satisfy. The men are gorgeous
(incredibly, drop-dead gorgeous), the scenery is
beautiful, and the sex isÖ wellÖ the sex is
softcore. Was I able to get off? Yeah,
eventually, but it took some doing. What I got
most out of The Summoner was an intense desire to
see Journey to Italy 2!
