The Short Story
Initial Expectations: Anarchy is a company that seems like they’d rather focus on lying to and deceiving the customer rather than improving their product.
Initial Reaction: It’s yet another Anarchy loser.
Who Should Watch It : Extreme Gigi fans
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting an interactive virtual sex DVD made by competent people
The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn’t notice a single background noise. The video is okay. It has a soft look, but is on the dark side with shadows throughout the entire release.
Music: There’s music during the strip tease, but that’s it. It’s okay music, but seems a bit loud.
Bullshit, Borderline, and Boneheaded Advertising: The front cover lists features of Various Angles, Extremely Interactive, Strip Tease, Titty Play, Blowjob, Tease Menu, Shot Exclusively for DVD, Point of View (P.O.V.), and Different Sex Positions. The back cover lists features of Get to Know Gigi, Multiple Preview Trailers, Behind the Scenes, Digital Stereo Sound, Multiple Layer Menus, Website Access, All Region Coding, and PC DVD-ROM Compatible. The true claims are Strip Tease, Titty Play, Blowjob, Get to Know Gigi, Digital Stereo Sound, Multiple Layer Menus, Website Access, All Region Coding, and PC DVD-ROM Compatible, most of which are things that no other studio advertises. Surprisingly, the Bullshit section is pretty slim here, with the main claim that’s completely bullshit being the claim of having a behind the scenes featurette. There’s also the claim of Tease Menu. You do have the choice between starting with either foreplay or sex, but there’s a difference between foreplay and teasing. You don’t have any choices for Gigi to tease you with her tits, ass, pussy, or between her using her fingers or toys to play with herself for you, like you would with an Extremely interactive virtual sex DVD like Digital Sin, Digital Playground, Smash Pictures, or Wicked Pictures has put out. There’s also the claim of Multiple Preview Trailers, which I couldn’t get to, and the Get to Know Gigi claim which makes it sound like there’s an interview as well as the behind the scenes featurette. Once again, Anarchy has delivered a DVD with several cover claims that are complete bullshit.
The only borderline claim is the POV claim. Yes, there is some POV footage, but it’s definitely in the minority of footage. It’s very rare that you can view this feature with POV footage. Making a claim of POV footage on the front cover is borderline false advertising with how much of it is included here.
Finally, there’s the boneheaded claims. Top of the list is Various Angles. With a POV claim on the front cover, one can’t help but wonder why there aren’t claims for Side Angle, Below Angle, and Above Angle as well. It’s obvious that Anarchy took some well deserved heat over the completely false Multiple Angles claim that they’ve had on every interactive DVD they’ve released up until now, but they’ve still not smart enough to be completely honest with the people who give them money. Shot Exclusively for DVD? That might mean something if anybody was releasing “Interactive VHS” features. Finally, there’s my favorite boneheaded claim: Different Sex Positions. Different from what? Or is it to mean that there’s more than one? What next? Fast food restaurants advertising that their shakes come “with a cup!”? As usual, Anarchy comes off looking like a deceitful piece of shit and earns a half point penalty against the overall rating.
Menus: The menu has a cheesy still of Gigi along with the choices. It’s not impressive and is far from giving a good first impression.
The FeatureGigi’s a fairly stereotypical porn star. She’s young, has a pierced navel and tongue, a few tattoos, a bald beaver, and bottle blonde hair. Anarchy is a company that shows why so many people think of the porn industry as a bunch of liars and hacks. They’ve teamed up here for Anarchy’s half assed interactive sex simulator.
After a quick strip tease where Gigi dances behind a black veiled curtain in a black dress, Gigi appears in a baby blue nightie with pink ribbons and diddles herself. She’ll work herself over with a jackrabbit vibe and a Sybian or work “you” over with her hand, mouth, feet, or tits. She’ll also fuck in both cowgirls, pile driver, missionary, on her side, and doggie. Finally, Gigi will take a nice facial.
For her part, Gigi does a hit or miss job. She’s definitely cute and plays to the camera nicely during the tease sequences. Unfortunately, she doesn’t do as well once she’s paired with John. She continues to play to the camera, and since the camera is all over the place she follows it rather than making it feel like she’s actually into her partner most of the time. She does put in some nice energy and nice vocals, and gives me the feeling that in a regular scene she’d probably do a very good job. At the very least, she takes a great ball blast from John all over her face. Gigi shows some nice potential, but doesn’t do that good of a job for the format of a virtual sex release.
As usual, Anarchy makes a joke out of virtual sex simulators. To start with, there’s barely any POV footage to let you insert yourself into the scene. The segments, which normally last between about thirty seconds and a minute and a half with a few running longer and a few running shorter, don’t loop so the menu instead acts like a poor chapter menu that you can access at any time. Rather than going with the small letters listing the choices in the upper left corner of the screen as they have for their last several releases, the menu is now in large letters that takes up roughly a third of the right side of the screen vertically. Yes, that means that it blocks or interferes with plenty of the action. The only good thing about the new menu is that it does give you choices as to which angle you can view the action from. This does not mean that they are anything close to multiple angles. It also leaves a bit to be desired by not letting you have all the choices you should, such as only having one choice for making Gigi play with toys when there’s both a jackrabbit vibe segment and two Sybian segments (one where you watch from the front and one from the back). There are many other places throughout the release where a selection will be made up of two or three segments which are poorly edited together with a blank screen to break them apart. There’s even things like a title screen with “Footjob Close Up” that pops up at one point. Of course, when a company can’t even spell “Masturbation” right in their menus and “Missionary” seems so challenging that they use “Sex” instead, I guess things like that shouldn’t be any kind of a surprise. Once again, Anarchy themselves to be close to the technical ability of a lower primate.
Playing with Gigi is yet another laughable slapped together piece of crap for Anarchy to market as a virtual sex simulator. The segments don’t loop, instead leaving you with a chapter menu on screen throughout the feature. Gigi is cute, but the camera angles and how she plays to them leaves the release falling way short of most interactive performances. Anarchy shows why they’re a studio to pass by once again with Playing with Gigi.
The Extra StuffThere’s about ten minutes of behind the scenes which you’re taken to immediately upon selecting the extras rather than being given an extras menu. Jimmy D talks with Gigi about her first pile driver, having an alien in her tummy, discovering that she likes girls, and liking mullets. It’s a fun little interview with Gigi definitely showing her young age.
The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff
Themes: Straight, “interactive”, tease, masturbation, toys, hand job, blowjob, foot job, and titty fucking
Raincoat Factor: Very high
Condom Usage: None
The Bottom Line:Currently, most of the Playing with series can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with several stores offering it near the low end. Don’t even think of paying close to that here, even if you’re a Gigi fan. The interactive aspect is so bad that it’s beyond laughable, although Gigi is cute. The technical aspects are fairly average and there isn’t a lot of effort put into the extras. Skip this one.
Note to Anarchy: With how you lie to people, it’s amazing that you can have any fanbase at all. Gee, maybe that’s why you have to whine about the cable market so much...
