menu screen Synopsis:
Miranda Ripley (Carmen LuVana) is framed and executed for the murder of her husband Jack Ripley (Julian).  Miranda is brought back from the beyond to avenge Jack's death as well as her own.

Phoenix Rising 2 is presented with an English 2.0 Stereo track, but it would have sounded much better with a 5.1 Surround mix.  The audio is decent although there is a problem at one point in the film where the audio level of the dialog dips down real low making the dialog hard to hear.  This is the only problem with the audio though.  Digital Sin hasn't included any foreign language tracks or any subtitle options for the feature film.

Phoenix Rising 2 is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film.  Given how much the film tries to look like a mainstream film, it's surprising that it wasn't made in a widescreen aspect ratio.  The picture quality on the disc is good, sporting no artifacts, blemishes or glitches with good color levels.

Special Features:
Digital Sin has included a few extras on the disc for your added enjoyment.  There is a seven minute behind the scenes piece that consists mostly of interviews.  There is a three minute trailer for the feature film.  There is a photo gallery that contains 34 stills that you have to flip through.  There are also 33 trailers for other Digital Sin titles included on the disc.

screen shot Disc Design/Navigation:
The disc is nicely designed to go with the theme of the film.  A short video clip from the beginning of the film starts the disc.  The menus are all animated and look nice.  There is also a short vide clip between the various menus on the disc.  There are twelve chapters available from the chapter menu, as well as being in the film itself.  They are identified by a video clip from where the chapter goes to in the film.  There is a time code for the feature film encoded on the disc.

General Review:
Phoenix Rising 2 is the sequel to Nic Cramer's 1998 film Phoenix Rising distributed by Pleasure Productions.  No prior knowledge of the original one is need though for viewing of this film as it is a completely stand alone film.  The film boasts a rather well developed plot that borrows heavily from the mainstream film The Crow.  A lot of work has gone into this film to make sure that it doesn't look like everything else on the market.  The film has a rather dark theme, with some excellent sets and some good make up effects.  There are some decent special effects in the film as well.

The plot has a mainstream feel to it and the sex scenes tend to fit into the plot better than they do in most adult films.  I wish the plot had been developed better as there are some great ideas present here but often it seems like there should have been more.  The film would have benefitted from being about 20 minutes longer and having those 20 minutes devoted to more of the plot development.  The end result is that the film has an uneven feel throughout which hinders the film slightly.

screen shot An aspect of the film that I really liked is the sex scenes and the acts performed within tend to fit the plot and the situation more than they usually do.  There were some errors though, like the use of toys in the scene with Carmen LuVana and Kayla Paige as they didn't really fit in.  There were some problems in some of the scenes where the lighting drastically changed suddenly during the scene, which was rather distracting.  There is also some bad acting present in the film, but overall, the film is a nice change.

The sex scenes look nice and have some great intensity to them.  There is some great variety to the acts performed in the scenes and how they look so the film doesn't get monotonous.  After the film was over, I felt myself wishing that there had been a sex scene with Carmen LuVana all done up in her make up since she looked so good in it.  The sexual themes in the film are vaginal and anal sex with blow jobs, pussy eating (female to female, male to female), vaginal toy use, anilingus (male to female), pussy fingering, female masturbation, anal masturbation, and lesbianism.  For viewers that care about condom use, there are no condoms used in the film.

Scene Synopsis:
The first scene brings us Malorie Marx and Slim Shady and consists of a blow job only.  The second scene features Carmen LuVana and Kayla Page and consists of pussy eating and vaginal toy use.  The third scene gives us Kelli Tyler and Dillion Day and starts out with a blow job before concluding with some vaginal sex.

screen shot The fourth scene brings us Aria and Tony Tedeschi and starts out with some anilingus before going to the pussy eating and pussy fingering.  There is a blow job before the vaginal sex.  The scene concludes with some anal sex.  The fifth scene features Sophie Evans and Eric Price and starts out with some pussy eating before going into the blow job.  The scene concludes with some vaginal sex.

The sixth and seventh scenes in the film are interlaced with each other.  The sixth scene gives us Chloe Dior and Lee Stone and starts out with some pussy eating before going into the blow job.  The scene concludes with some vaginal sex.  The seventh scene features Carmen LuVana and consists of her masturbating and anally masturbating.

The eighth scene features Carmen LuVana, Sophie Evans and Dillion Day and starts out with a pussy eating (female to female) and blow job combo before going into just a blow job.  Then there is a pussy eating (male to female) and blow job combination before the vaginal sex.  The ninth and final scene  in the film brings us Aria and Eric Price and consists of a blow job only.

Parting Thoughts:
Phoenix Rising is a well done and ambitious film, unfortunately it tries to take on more than it can, but the finished product is still enjoyable to watch.  Viewers that like their adult films with a plot and enjoy darker themes in their film will probably get the most enjoyment out of this film.  If you are interested in the film, you might want to rent it before purchasing to determine if it is the right film for you.
