Running Time: 110 min.

Production Date:6 / 15 / 1995

Director: Joe D'Amaton & Cameron Grant

Cast: Juli Ashton, Deborah Wells, Anita Blond, Valentina, Kelly Trump, Bernadette, Marc Davis, Sean Michaels, Valentino, Attilla, Backey Jakic, & Frank Malone

Audio and Video Quality: Both are below average. The picture is one of the grainiest I’ve ever seen. In one close-up I could barely tell what I was looking at. That’s pretty bad for porn. The audio is clearer than the video, but still leaves a lot to be desired. Several of the people in the cast are foreign, and it was hard to understand what they were saying. I know that a lot of that was the accents, but a clearer audio would have helped it a lot. Also, several scenes were noticeably dubbed. The sex audio was a mixed bad because many of the scenes didn’t have audio other than the music.

Music: The music is a light jazz. It’s the same kind of music almost any guy would play when a woman comes over that he wants to score with to make her think he’s a sensitive guy. Unfortunately, it’s about the same song through the entire movie. If the style was kept about the same with the songs changed more it would have been a lot better.

Initial Expectations: Due to the age of the movie, I expected a pretty poor transfer. I expected the movie, however to be pretty well done due to the presence of Juli Ashton and Cameron Grant. expected a pretty good movie.

Initial Reaction: Although the audio and video quality suck, this is one of the best couples movies I’ve seen in a long time. The plot is shallow, but the sex is extremely hot and tender.

Special Thanks: Except for Juli Ashton and Marc Davis, the cast is new to me as I have watched very little European porn. Thanks to the RAME site because I wouldn’t have had a clue to the rest of the case in the movie without its aid.

The Movie:Passion in Venice revolves around Juli Ashton trying to secure the rights to a new fabric for her corporation. It’s kind of ironic, as most of the fabric ends up in a pile on the ground. The mood is set as soon as the opening credits start to roll against the backdrop of the canals in Venice. The entire movie was filmed on location, and it uses a lot of great backdrops in what is considered by many to be one of the most romantic cities in the world. As soon as the credits end, we meet Juli as she steps off the boat to meet Marc Davis. She barely has time to tell Marc how this is her first time in Venice before it cuts away to Deborah Wells in her hotel room. A waiter is delivering room service while Deborah argues on the phone with a lawyer. It’s obviously a full service hotel, as the waiter (who’s identity nobody seems to know) comes over to eat her out as she continues to argue. Thankfully I was sitting down when this happened so I didn’t hurt myself from the shock. Deborah looks really hot in the scene and it sets up the mood for the sex very well. This isn’t completely a good scene. There are a lot of slow motion portions in the scene and it detracted from the scene for me. The picture was also extremely grainy for a few moments. This would have been a great scene if it weren’t for the grain and speed problems. After this scene I had my remote control handy.

Juli has apparently checked into the hotel, as we see her smoking outside a room on the balcony. While smoking a cigarette she spots Marc on the street below her. She calls to him, but he doesn’t hear her. She rushes down to the street and chases him through the streets of Venice. She finally rounds a corner only to see him with Anita Blonde. She hides behind a corner and peeks at them as they make love in the courtyard. Anita is gorgeous in this scene, and I can’t blame Juli when she starts to masturbate while watching. Juli can’t help but fantasize about joining Marc and Anita in a threesome. The scene goes back and forth between what’s really happening and Juli’s fantasy. Anita is fairly restrained here, but the scene is very hot and extremely well done in balancing the reality and the fantasy in the scene (assuming, of course, that having sex with a gorgeous blonde in the middle of a public courtyard is realistic).

Deborah wakes Juli in the morning with a phone call and meets her for coffee. Deborah has to go to a meeting in Milan, so she briefs Juli for a meeting with one of their partners. Juli talks a little with Sean Michaels, before meeting her main contact. Her main contact isn’t that interested in business and has Kelly Trump sent in for entertainment followed by a male assistant. Sean, Juli, and the main man watch the action for a little while before Sean joins in while Juli gets lightly caressed in many of the right places. This scene was okay, but for some reason seemed a little off and I’m not sure quite why. After Kelly gets sprayed, Juli is expected to continue with a private show, but instead gets nervous and runs off.

Outside, Juli meets Marc Davis while trying to get her cigarette lit without any results. Marc takes her back to the hotel where the next day she is chastised by Deborah for screwing up the meeting and not giving the business deal whatever it takes. Remembering a lesson she learned as a child, Deborah insists that she and Juli kiss and make out. Or was it make up? In this case, it ends up to be both. There aren’t any toys used, but this ends up being an extremely hot scene.

We catch up with the main contact on his boat. Bernadette is giving him a much needed blow job since Juli ran out on him when Sean calls him to let him know that the competition has arrived in town. Bernadette is a nice dark haired European looking beauty who does a great job. The camera work seemed to lack here and the scene didn’t come off as good as it could have.

Everything is waiting for the competition to make a move now, so Marc offers to show Juli some of the sights in Venice. Mr. Grant does a nice job showing some of the sights in Venice, before giving us another long look at Juli’s naked body as Marc boffs her in an outside garden. The scene is very artistic and makes full use of the architecture in the garden. This scene sums up a lot of the aim of the movie right here. It’s very artistic and obviously aimed at women due to the softness of the scene. That isn’t always a bad thing. In most of Passion in Venice, the sex is well done, artistic, and softer in nature. There aren’t a lot of women who are extremely taken with Anna Malle and Jewel De’Nyle.

The competition is really working hard to get the rights to the new fabric, so a hooker (Valentina) is sent over to distract him. She arrives at the door wearing only a trenchcoat, and like any other guy, he lets her in when he sees that she’s not wearing anything underneath. Having second thoughts, he fights her off very nobly until she gets to his zipper, at which point he gives up. Valentina is really hot in this scene, although the competition doesn’t seem to be since she works herself over with a vibrator in addition to what he’s doing to her. After she wears him out, she grabs his lap top on her way out the door.

Back at the hotel, Juli finds an invitation to a masquerade ball. The ball quickly turns into several pairs of balls which slap the chins and asses of the many girls present. Throughout the scene, Juli stands in the background and watches as most of the rest of the cast partakes. I haven’t found many orgy scenes that seem to work that well, but this one seems to be well above average. The scene is immediately followed with a great surprise ending. It puts a nice twist in the movie, and wakes up and of the guys who might have fallen asleep watching this when they expected Juli to play a role similar to her Nurse role in DMJ6.

Strangely, Passion in Venice is followed by a trailer for The Palace, which has yet to be released. This is the second movie I’ve watched with a trailer for The Palace at the end. It’s really too bad that it hasn’t been released yet as it looks like a great feature.

Extras: A photo gallery and biographies. The bios are only for Juli, Marc, and Anita, maybe. Marc and Juli’s bios are of average quality. Anita’s would be better if they had the picture of her rather than Deborah Wells. As I said earlier, I didn’t know who most of the cast was, but all of the reviews I found on RAME said that this was Deborah Wells. This seems more fitting, as Deborah gets second billing and the person I think she is has three scenes in the movie. This is pretty sloppy for Adam & Eve, as they normally pay pretty close attention to details. The photo gallery is the automated style and lasts two minutes. Each still picture lasts about six seconds.

Themes: Straight, group, lesbian, anal, toys, tit - fucking, DP, and spanking

Raincoat Factor: It’s extremely hot sex, so although there’s a lot of plot, it can be easily skipped or fast forwarded through.

Overall: Currently, Passion in Venice can be found online for between $10 and $24 with many stores having it for under $15. I don’t think it’s worth $15, but if you’re looking for a good couples movie, it is worth consideration. It’s definitely worth $10, despite the lousy transfer and poor extras.

Note to Adam & Eve: It’s great to hear that you’re giving The Dinner Party a new transfer. I hope that you’ll consider giving Passion in Venice a similar treatment. It deserves much better than it has here.
