The Short Story
Initial Expectations: OSK has put out some nice instructional box sets in the past. I went into this one with a bit of hope.
Initial Reaction: It's a nice collection of heavier fetish instructional releases.
Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting to explore different types of bondage
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting softer and cuddlier sex information
The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is a little muddy at times, but well balanced and free of background noises. The video is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen, and looks okay. It's well lit, but also a bit grainy.
Menus: The main menus are okay, and normally just gives a little background animation with the choices. The chapter menu is also very basic and lets you choose a scene based on a series of text choices.
The FeatureHow to Perform Volume 3 collects three heavy fetish instructional releases from the Educational Sex Series, namely How to Perform CBT, How to Perform Rope Bondage, and How to Use Sounds. As I have covered all of these titles previously, here I'll just give some general comments on this release, as well as a little on the series in general.
OSK sets itself apart by many other companies putting out instructional releases by going the hardcore route with the Educational sex Series. Each movie features pornstars and those who are into the different fetishes in real life rather than having the subjects presented by people who think they always need more letters behind their name. This gives the releases a bit of a laid back feeling, and lets it be sex positive without getting too clinical. The people talk their way through what they're doing with some obvious experience behind them that feels like it comes much more from experience than the classroom. There's normally some nice discussion between the people as they demonstrate, and there always seems to be room for somebody to add something that pops into their mind as they demonstrate. I also like that although some of these subjects didn't interest me (and some made me more than a little uncomfortable), OSK isn't afraid to tackle them. I've never heard of medical sound sex play, but after seeing them used here I couldn't help but be glad that somebody had a release out for it. I'm just as glad for the rope bondage release, as it's something that I think interests a lot of people but also intimidates people that it shouldn't. OSK has a nice approach throughout this series and a nice collection of subjects here.
As usual with this series, and box sets in general, there's also a few minor downsides. The biggest here is the same one that runs through the entire series, namely the camera work. It often seems a little unfocused in what it wants to shoot (not in the clarity of the video), and there are many times when it seems like the camera is either on a tripod or the cameraman isn't paying attention as the people try to show what they're doing. There's also a little of the material that seems to be repeated beyond what's necessary, such as sounds being covered in How to Perform CBT and How to Use Sounds. How to Perform CBT also comes in fairly weak due to it feeling stretched out and like it should have been a subject added into a standard bondage instruction video rather than being given its own release. These are fairly minor complaints, however, and shouldn't stop anybody who's interested in the heavier fetish play to check out these releases.
How to Perform Volume 3 is a nice collection of heavier fetish instructional releases. The subjects are covered in a nicely done layman's style that's still very sex positive as well as coming off very knowledgeable. There are times when the subjects get a touch repetitive (namely with sounds) and the camera work is often a little weak, but none of it ever holds back the releases too much for too long. How to Perform CBT is noticeably weaker than the others here, but with the normal lower price of a box set it doesn't hold back the release much. If you're wanting to get freaky but feeling a little lost, How to Perform Volume 3 might be the perfect release to check out.
The Extra StuffEach DVD includes trailers and a long photo gallery.
The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff
Themes: Straight, instructional, fetish, rope bondage, interracial, and oral
Raincoat Factor: Medium, but depends on how much you can get into the different fetishes
Condom Usage: None
The Bottom Line:I was lucky enough to be given this set at Erotica LA to check out, but I don't see it available for purchase online anywhere. If you do see it and it interests you, I'd recommend picking it up as the material is nicely presented and the technical aspects are normally above average. There isn't much for extras, but that's not unusual with instructional releases. This is a pretty good box set.
Note to OSK Productions: I hope you make these collections more available.
