On a beach in Hawaii, Peter Winston (John C. Holmes) hits on Sandra Bevin, (Leslie Bovee) who tells him to get lost. He hangs around long enough for the duo to hatch a scheme to murder her husband and pocket the insurance money. Turns out other devious things are lurking in Sandra's past and when Peter finally uncovers her scheme, he confronts the beautiful Sandra on a stairway, which sets the final moments of ERUPTION into motion.

82 minutes in length, ERUPTION (1977, Cal Vista) gets yet another DVD re-release, this time via VCX and their Cal Vista Classic DVD series, which debuted in 2008. The standard frame presentation looks crummy at times but at least the sound is okay.

ERUPTION is one of those xxx modern film noir-wannabes that sadly is hit and miss. It tends to hit when action (xxx or otherwise) focuses on the Holmes and Bovee characters but misses when too much time is spent on xxx scenes involving a step-daughter character, (Susan Hart) who knows what's up with Bovee's character. See below for a detailed list of "Hit" and "Miss" stuff then decide for yourself whether ERUPTION is worth a look and a listen.

HIT---Holmes and Bovee fuck on the beach down by the cove.

MISS---The picture quality is really crummy for this opening sex scene.

MISS--The time wasted waiting for those stupid automatic doors to open on that De Lorean

HIT/MISS---Hart gives Holmes a blowjob and takes a facial/ugly spot and streak on lower left corner of frame

HIT/MISS---Hart and Eric Evol fuck poolside/interrupted by Hobie the pool guy, (Jack Aldis) who also fucks Hart but why?

HIT---Holmes running around and climbing ontop of a parking garage in broad daylight for no good reason. Might be a MISS to some.

HIT---After dumping her hubby in the trunk, Holmes and Bovee fuck in a white Eldorado convertible.

MISS---Holmes dons a leg cast and and kisses Bovee's hand in an attempt to look and act like her hubby then fake his death. Bystanders, claiming to have known the hubby for three years, witnesses Holmes's schtick in broad daylight but can not tell the difference between Holmes and hubby.

HIT/MISS---Holmes and Bovee fuck at his apartment. Bovee looks hot in a white cotton dress/Sex scene is loaded with extreme close-ups: Bovee's cavernous pussy and Holmes fingertips, her lips and tip-top of his dick, his tongue and her nipple. Enough already with the extreme close-ups.

MISS---Who are these people in the weight room? Wynne Colburn fucks Carrie Welton there by why? Oh, okay, Hart walks in and needs a place to stay and what the heck, let's get out a double-sided dildo and fuck some more.

MISS---Is that goofy sex scene detailed above the best they could do for the end of this film?

HIT/MISS---An okay ending to the story but where's a Holmes sex scene or something xxx in the last 10 minutes of this 82 minute film?

So, VCX's re-release of ERUPTION (1977, Cal Vista) is a mixed bag. Holmes is fine, the story is okay, but I would have rather seen much more extnesive xxx action between him and Leslie Bovee than Laura Hart and the creepy looking guys she fucks. Final rating for ERUPTION is !! 1/2 outa !!!!!

Extras include actual pages of the shooting script, some Press Kit stuff plus the usual trailers and bonus scenes that accopmany VCX's Cal Vista Classic series.
