Running Time: 27 min.

Production Date: 2000

Director: Kanazawa Katuma

Cast: Animated and featuring the voices of Misty Rain and Tabitha Stevens

Initial Expectations: I’ve had mixed luck out of NuTech’s anime releases. I’m really not sure what to expect here.

Initial Reaction: It’s easily skipped

Who Should Watch It : Pedophiles

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting to watch sex that appears enjoyable

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video both appear very good for what the source is like. The animation isn’t that developed, think Pokemon, but there isn’t any noticeable pixelation or remnants to hold it back further.

Music: The music is soft and has a bit of a sad feeling that fits the feature only too well.

Menus: The main menu is nicely animated and gives a good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for the scene.

The Feature: Mr. Miyaki is the track coach at the school where Aya’s sister teaches. He and his partner Yumiko rape the girls, and normally videotape the action so he can watch it later. Aya and Yumiko have some history together, and when Aya and her sister start competing over one of the new boys in the school, Yumiko reminds Aya that she knows about some of Aya’s old habits.

Mr. Miyaki, the track coach, takes care of one of his runners in the first full scene. She lets him take her from behind and rides him reverse cowgirl before the scene shudders to a stop. Later, Aya is shown a video where Asika was sent to a hotel room where she meets a businessman who thinks she’s a prostitute. He fucks her while Mr. Miyaki fucks Aya until she squirts.

The sex really drags down the feature. It starts out with a few very nice playful moments. Yes, you can almost year the pedophiles start drooling at these scenes, but they’re playful enough that I could handle them. Sadly, these sections are short and quickly passed by to get to the longer sex scenes which deal completely with rape. The girls whimper through them and there’s never a moment when you feel that the girls might be into the action. I couldn’t find anything enjoyable about either of these scenes.

The Blackmail 1 is an easily forgettable feature. The story feels like it might be the start of something bigger, but most of it delves so far into the taboo subjects of pedophilia and rape that it feels like it forgets where it’s going at times. The sex doesn’t help the feeling of the feature at all. Although there are a couple nicely playful moments, I wanted to look away more than anything during the longer scenes. Yes, The Blackmail 1 piqued my interest at times, but it never did enough with it to completely interest me or to get me past the problems with the sex scenes.

Extras: Three photo galleries are included, one for the feature, one for Misty Rain, and one for Tabitha Stevens. The feature gallery lasts about a minute and a quarter while the star galleries last about two minutes. In each case, the photo is clear and lasts about six seconds before moving onto the next photo. As usual, there’s also web links and the B-Side of the DVD contains trailers for most of NuTech’s anime releases.

Themes: Anime, tease, masturbation, lesbian (light), B&D, and pedophilia

Raincoat Factor: Low

Condom Usage: None needed

Overall: Currently, many of NuTech’s anime DVDs can be found online for between $11 and $22 with most stores offering them for around $15. Rent this one before you buy it. The technical aspects are nicely done, but the feature is extremely short, wasn’t that enjoyable, and there wasn’t much for extras.

Note to NuTech: It’s nice to see you bringing in some top name stars for the voices, but it would be much nicer to have the full story at a decent price.
