I really had liked Paul Thomas's "Heart Breaker" and thought this one sounded interesting. Was it what I expected? Well...
The Movie: Normally I would go through the sex scenes, and the plot, but the thing is, the sex is pretty constant, and the plot really is the important part here. So, I'm going to treat this more as a maintstream review.
The basic premise of this movie is that Inari Vachs and Bobby Vitale are couple. They start the movie as very wild and drugged out, having sex in front of Bobby's porn models, and fucking other people in front of each other. Things are pretty hot and nasty between the two. That is until Thanksgiving. Kobi is having it at her house, and we are introduced to one more important character, Doug (I forget the performer's name). Things are going well, although Bobby seems to really want to trip Kobi up in her search for a sober life. Well, he fails, and Bobby, Inari, and Dougy end up leaving.
Due to a lot of drinking and driving an accident happens, and Doug is killed, and Inari is stuck in a wheel chair. From here on out the plot just gets really weird. It basically has to do with Inari finding inner peace, and pulling herself out of the life she had with Bobby. The problem is that her inner peace was brought on by a fraud, and she is left crumpled and unhappy.
Sex wise this movie is kind of on and off. There are around 11 scenes, but very few of them develop past oral sex. When the scenes do build, they are usually really mild. This is not whack material. The tone of the sex is way to depressing, and when it's not it is very heavily cut, and very soft. I mean, most of the time you never even see penetration. Still, the sex and the plot blend pretty well.
The real stand out thing about this movie is the acting, particularly Inari. Her performance really made me forget I was watching a porno, even when there was hardcore fucking on screen. Kobi and Bobby hold their own as well, and we get a really well done, mainstream feeling movie. Just don't watch this one expecting a happy ending. There isn't one, at all. Actually, thinking about the movie now, it's pretty damn depressing! Still, if you liked Paul Thomas's original The Massuese, then you'll enjoy this movie.
Tech Stuff: This is an older movie, and looks kind of grainy, although the picture is still very clear, with minimal print damage. I am pretty sure this one was shot on film. The sound is nice and clear. A well done disc.
Extras: I didn't even bother. You get a lot of extra scenes, but you have to navigate through the "Vivid Rooms" to get to anything. Thank God they got rid of those. As much as I hate the phone sex ads and all of that, I would take them over the "Vivid Rooms".
OverAll: As a porno, this one isn't all that great, but as a movie you could sit down and watch with your special someone, it scores pretty high. It has a nice edge to it, but still has a good story, and great acting. This is what happens when you have the wierdest writer in porn, David Stanley, and one of the best directors, Paul Thomas, together. This is for the couples crowd, or those looking for something that will make you think later on. Also, this is not for those who like happy porn. Still, I recommend it. One of the better, although wierder, porn titles I have seen.
