NOTE: As the screen captures will show, this review was made from a Screener copy with SCREENER COPY plastered across the middle of the screen. I cannot guarantee that the video quality on the actual product will match what I saw here, as well as anything else on the DVD for that matter. I normally do not review from screeners which do not match the street copy of a product, but as Alice was nominated for an XRCO award I made an exception for this release for voting purposes. I will also note that the intrusiveness of the SCREENER COPY across the middle of the screen definitely interfered with my enjoyment of the movie as it hurt my eyes (I would have popped the disc out and thrown it away if not for the XRCO nomination), and as Metro didn't think having SCREENER COPY plastered across the actual DVDs wasn't enough, the same protection would have been just as effective with a tasteful Screener Copy in one of the bottom corners where a few other companies have been able to put a tasteful watermark. I can't say that I've been impressed with Metro as a company due to what I've heard of their business practices, and this release makes me want to avoid them completely in the future. I have a few other SCREENER COPY screeners from them which I hoped to check out in the future but have now thrown in the garbage (where this copy went as well as soon as I finished it).

The Short Story
Initial Expectations: This one has a great cast and Erica McLean has shown some nice talent behind the camera. It's being nominated for an XRCO Award doesn't hurt my hopes either.
Initial Reaction: It's a pretty good release, but there's no reason what's here couldn't have been all put on one DVD.
Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting their parodies a little different but without the nasty sex
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting straightforward porn
The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects show some nice care, although as I said earlier I can't say if what I viewed is what the final product will really be like. The audio is clear and well balanced for the most part, but there did sound to be a few fairly minor background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks pretty clear with nicely done camera work and a nice mix of black and white and full color footage that makes the movie a bit more artistic.
Music: The music comes and goes through the feature with a variety of styles and balances that works well for the movie.
Menus: The main menu gives a couple stills with a little animation for an okay first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a clip of each scene and a title for the scene with the entire thing spinning around and making it a bit hard to see at times.
The FeatureAfter Alice (Sunny Lane) follows white rabbit Andy San Dimas down a dirty hole, she gets into the Duchess' club. After meeting somebody that seems kind of like a slug with a hookah, her world seems to change quite a bit as she meets quite a few very different people.

The Tea Party
Scene 1 Aiden Starr and Andy San Dimas
Aiden and Andy get busy in a club after dancing a bit and being given a glass dildo by James Bartholet. Andy sucks Aiden's tits and slaps them a bit before helping her out of her pants to rub and lick her pussy as well as teasing it with the toy. Aiden pulls down Andy's pants and works her over from behind before putting the dildo to work on her as she lays back in the chair. Aiden moves up to have her pussy eaten and fucked with the toy before she kisses Andy, takes the toy from her, and fucks her missionary style with a bit of finger play mixed in. The girls finish things with a kiss before the scene cuts out.
Scene 2 Sunny Lane and Otto Bauer
After meeting Otto and his hookah, he lets her know how part of him can change size. Sunny gropes his crotch before sucking his cock and lets Otto reach around to play with her pussy as she sucks him. She rides him cowgirl style before hopping up for a little sixty-nining and then hops back on his cock for a reverse cowgirl ride. Sunny gets in a little sidesaddle fucking before Otto picks her up for a midair cowgirl ride and then lays her back for some missionary work. They also get in some doggie fucking before Sunny takes a nice pop in her mouth.
Scene 3 April Flores and CJ Wright
After Andy drags Sunny away from touching Red Queen April's titties and pussy, CJ moves in to appreciate her big bodied beauty. They exchange oral favors with a little reverse cowgirl and doggie fucking mixed in. Finally the scene ends with a pop on April's ass and stockings where you only get to see the aftereffects rather than the actual act.
Scene 4 Sunny Lane and Mikey Butders
Cheshire cat Mikey guides Sunny's hand to his pants and gropes her while talking about them both being horny. He has her suck his cock before mixing in a little ass licking as he takes her from behind. They also get in a little reverse cowgirl and bow and arrow fucking before Sunny sucks Mikey and rides him cowgirl style. Sunny gets in a little more reverse cowgirl before taking a good pop in her mouth.
Scene 5 Katie St. Ives and Seth Gamble
Brunette Katie and Seth wander to the end of the table at the Mad Hatter's tea party to get busy. She sucks his cock before letting him eat her in return. They fuck missionary style before he takes her from behind over the table. Katie also rides him cowgirl style before taking a nice pop in her mouth and swallowing it down.
Scene 6 Sunny Lane and Evan Stone
Mad Hatter Evan takes Sunny by a tree to have his way with her. He helps strip her down and goes right to fucking her from behind. They move around so he can fuck her against the tree as they face each other before Sunny sucks him clean and lets him take her from behind again. They run up a hill so Alice can watch the setting sun as Evan pops a nice load over her happy face.
Scene 7 Kimberly Kane
As she looks at a comic book on a bench, Kimberly Kane strips down and plays with herself lightly. She moves on to fuck herself with a little vibe before rubbing her panties around her face, sucking her finger and toy clean, and chewing on her stocking as she fucks each of her holes. Finally, Kimberly goes back to her comic looking very happy.
Alice is a pretty impressive porn parody. Erica McLean does a nice job modernizing Alice while also paying tribute to the original. Sunny Lane does a great job in the title role, and the supporting cast helps her out nicely. That said, the sex is a bit inconsistent. While the opening scene was nice, I don't think there's a single scene that shines. There's also a couple scenes that don't quite work, such as April and CJ's scene which almost seems like an afterthought with how short and choppy it is. Sunny's scene with Evan also didn't work the best for me due to Evan's overacting actually taking away from the scene rather than enhancing what should have been a part he was made to play (and which most of the time he seemed to be). There's a lot I like about what Erica McLean did with Alice, but there's also a few things that didn't quite work and held it back. Of course, with SCREENER COPY plastered across the middle of the screen it's also hard to get into a movie too much.
The Extra StuffThe photo gallery lasts a little under six minutes. There's also a few behind the scenes featurettes, nearly seventeen minutes of trailers, a music video, and commercials. There's some nice care put into the extras, but I've seen a lot more than this put on a single DVD without sacrificing the quality of the product.
The behind the scenes featurette lasts about twelve and a half minutes. The featurette moves all around the set in an almost spastic and unorganized fashion. It's almost like the camera was left sitting around and people picked it up here and there and shot footage. I'd even think it might have been left on a tripod only it's aimed a little too well. This leaves plenty of comments from the cast and crew as well as a bit of the movie being shot. This is a fairly disappointing featurette that could be skipped fairly easily with the exception of a few minutes of Evan Stone at the end.
The photoshoot behind the scenes featurette lasts a little over twenty minutes. After a welcoming entrance with Sunny finding Erica on the street, they head up to the photo studio where you get to see Sunny being made up as she talks about work. There's a little fun with Sunny posing for stills with Evan Stone in the makeup chair having a bit of fun and Erica McLean mixed in. You get softcore as well as hardcore posing, and everybody looks like they're having a good time from start to finish.
The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff
Themes: Straight, lesbian, toys, interracial, rimming (male > female), and masturbation
Raincoat Factor: Medium high
Condom Usage: None
The Bottom Line:Currently, many Metro DVDs can be found for around $20. Rent this one first. It has some nice things going for it artistically, but also a few things don't quite work. The technical aspects show a bit of care, as do the extras. This is a pretty good release with some great ideas behind it.
Note to Metro: If you're so threatened by reviewers selling off their screeners after watching them (which is the only thing that might make plastering SCREENER COPY across the middle of your product so they can't really see what they're supposed to be reviewing), you're obviously not putting out a good enough product to carry itself. This is definitely a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face, especially since nobody there seems to be smart enough to figure out how to do this tastefully where the reviewer can check out your product without a huge distraction in the middle of it.
