Pros: Naked chicks with guns!!!, Naked bodies glistening with sweat!!!, Bouncing BOOBIES!!!, much weaponry and live ammo, women treated as sex objects AND being empowered, worth of serious discussion, quite possibly the ultimate guy movie
Cons: No chick ID, little extras, What? No AC/DC soundtrack?,
Shelf Life: Molon Labe
Quick synopsis: The movie starts out with text explaining the world we are seeing. In the future something bad happens and women are among the most oppressed, but some women stand defiant. Early on there are some ties to that, but everything is visual. There are no words spoken. As the movie progresses, the conflict fades in and out, but vignettes of naked sweaty women firing off various weaponry remains constant.
A quick synopsis does this DVD no justice (where do I start?):
I can really get behind cheesy soft core. I love Andy Sidaris'(no! He did not play Golem) Return to Savage Beach (The classic scene was when two busty women race to find a WMD with the bad guys hot on their trail, but find digging to be too exhausting and decide to go swimming naked. Later, a man from their team comes and helps them dig it out and it was about 2 inches below the ground. Classic!). I started out, delighted by the cheese of women firing off guns while naked for no real apparent reason, but then I noticed a few things. Granted, it IS another excuse to show HOT naked chicks, but...At first, I noticed that the overall production quality was far beyond the quality of the cheese that I also love. It may not be appropriate to call something cheese when it was obviously crafted with so much care. Visually, it is great. It blends grit with hot naked women to create an overall visual that would not work nearly as well if the sexy woman nor the grit were removed from the picture. The background is filled with run-down industry that, on it's own, is something I hate to see, but it actually adds to this experience. The women themselves are dirty and sweaty and they look very comfortable with the weaponry...and there is plenty of real weaponry. The firing of live rounds alone pleases me, but MAN does that testosterone flow when I see a naked woman glistening with sweat as she fires off the heavy artillery. There is even a flamethrower. (Even though there is no sex, I had to give this a positive sex rating because it just oozes sex.)
When I hear people say 'porn objectifies women' I must admit that I half smile, but I refuse to see the women as powerless across the board. This DVD certainly places women's bodies out their as objects, but these women are by no means treated as being meek. There was one moment when I saw something arguably deep and meaningful. One woman plays with a girls doll and rips it up and throws it in the fire. That doll wasn't her vision of womanhood.
Bottom line: This is quite possibly the ultimate guy DVD, but it could have used an ACDC soundtrack.
