Wacky World Of X-Rated Bloopers reviews:
review on

"Wacky World of X-Rated Bloopers", an overall-decent, 1989 release from Gourmet Video and narrated by Kimberly Carson, is exactly as its name would imply--a collection of bloopers and behind the scenes material from a number of 1980's releases. Funny moments, true missteps, wood issues, and micromanaging directors are all highlighted. A number of stars from the era make appearances, some more so than others, and the release does provide a nice look at life on a porn set from a time period when BTS material really wasn't mass-produced and readily available. While it's not so much a production to get off to, it's certainly interesting and reasonably worth a watch.

Pillowman reviews:
review on

"The Pillowman" marked the first John Leslie feature in which he, himself, did not appear. By not appearing, he proved that he was just as good of a director as an actor, and also that he could get out of other actors, performances almost as good as his own. The story concerns a man who goes by the name of the "Pillowman". As played by Peter North, he is "cocky", confused, and somewhat dumb, but also very likable. As the movie opens, he is searching a house for valuables. He gets caught by the resident (Chanel Price), who orders him to pull his pants down. In seconds, she turns his soft cock into a rock hard one. This then leads to an armchair fuck with the usual cum blast from North. Possibly the best scene of the movie. The plot is kind of confusing at times, but Peter is trying to get a list of women's phone numbers. Every women he gets involved with ends up becoming a fiasco, just after he invites them out to "Chinese food and ice cream".

Nightshift Nurses (VCA) reviews:
review on

"Nightshift Nurses", the directorial debut of perhaps the best actor to ever work in adult, John Leslie, not only is a scorcher when it comes to the sex, but also makes great use of comedy, blues music, and filmmaking styles that Leslie would later use in the "Chameleon" and "Catwoman" movies. The film takes place during one night in a hospital. Lois Ayres plays the senior nurse who heads the other nurses, played by Bionca, Keisha, Sheena Horne, and Lynn Francis. John Leslie plays Dr. Grow, an insomniac who hates his job and would really like to be a professional harmonica player. Joey Silvera is an everyman who goes by the name of Idaho Moe and in his spare time pretends that he's a doctor. Peter North, Josey Duval, and D.J. Cone play various patients and Siobhan Hunter is a "sister" who is waiting for her brother to come out of surgery. One more character worth mentioning would be the black janitor, played by Steve Hennessy. While mopping a hallway, he overhears moans and goes into the room to investigate.

"Nurses of the 407", a film from the Golden Age of Yesteryear is really not that great of a film, but worth getting for the audio commentary alone (I actually recommend watching the film with the commentary over watching it without).

Here is another porn film that follows the time-honored convention of parodying a mainstream movie or television show. Shot on a soundstage in San Francisco in 1982, the movie has the look and feel of the hit seventies and early 80s TV show, M*A*S*H. In fact, the overhead footage at the beginning of the film is the same outdoor set built for the mainstream show. Paul Thomas plays the Hawkeye character, called Jaybird, and Joey Silvera plays the Radar character. The female lead, hot hips Henderson, is played by Jessie St. James, who looks remarkably like hot lips Hoolihan. St. James does a remarkable acting job, and even seems to have some of Loretta Swits style and mannerisms. Unfortunately, this films close similarity to the show it is parodying is about the only thing it has going for it. The sex scenes are brief, a couple of them lack money shots, the women are average in the looks department, and the script is lame.
