Candida Royalle's Three Daughters reviews:
review on

Title: Candida Royalles Three Daughters Released by: Adam & Eve I had heard about Candida Royalles "Femme" productions several years ago, but never had the opportunity to review one of her movies until now. When Candida moved from acting in front of the camera to working behind it in the mid-80s, she decided to make movies "for women", although now shes promoting these more "for couples". Now the big thing about this movie is that they took out much of the usual "hardcore" stuff, like the exterior cum shot and the overemphasized view of the genital insertion. This video could very easily be mistaken for a softcore movie, especially since it emphasizes more story than sex. Speaking of story, lets get to it. "Three Daughters" is a story about the Clayton family a happily married couple with three adult daughters, all of them home at the same time for spring break. We start off with Jennifer, the pianist who decides to get it on with her piano instructor (who actually looks younger than her).

Misbehavin' reviews:

Chuck Vincent was truly an outstanding director who had a flare for great comedy and great drama, and he shot both with a surprisingly affectionate flare. This is one of his lesser seen films but it's cast and director automatically make it worth watching. Vincent creates a light, fluffy, and very amusing comedy that never knocked me out of my seat with its humor but proved an extremely fun and enjoyable film viewing experience.

Maraschino Cherry reviews:
review on

Don't be fooled by the fact that this was directed by Radley Metzger, who directed such acknowledged classics as The Opening of Misty Beethoven. This film just doesn't come close to the level of Misty Beethoven, or Metzger's other efforts. The DVD was transfered from an extremely distressed print of the movie. This thing is simply terrible to look at, and there is little eroticism, despite the presence of the superstars of the era, including Leslie Bovee, Gloria Leonard, Constance Money, and Annette Haven. For example, Constance Money's scene consists only of a short handjob. About the only thing that saves this film from being a complete waste is the nasty, kinky S&M scene with C.J. Lang.

NOTE: This is not your typical review. Others have done an excellent job reviewing the content, scenes, performances, etc. of this porn classic. This "review" concerns itself with how the DVD's contents compare with the complete, uncut original release version of the film or an early (before prior self-censorship) VHS version. The Ratings given refer either to the "original" version of the film (Performers, Plot, Sex, etc.) or to the DVD version (Extras, Value, etc.) and are relatively arbitrary. The important info is that which follows. MARASCHINO CHERRY DVD IS THE PITS! Radley Metzgers last hardcore effort under his Henry Paris nom-de-film is finally available on DVD from Video-X-Pix. Well, they saved the worst for last and by that, I dont mean from a content standpoint! While Maraschino Cherry is generally regarded as the weakest of that group of films, even Metzgers weakest efforts far outstrip those of most of his porn peers and successors, IM (and many others) HO.

Maraschino Cherry is the final hardcore film directed by Radley Metzger (under his Henry Paris pseudonym) and, as such, is likely to be of considerable interest to porn and cult movie fans alike. However, those expecting something akin to The Opening Of Misty Beethoven are going to be disappointed. Maraschino Cherry, perhaps predictably given its place in the Metzger/Paris filmography, is actually little more than a vignette movie (or, as it would probably have been described at the time, a loop carrier). The movie revolves around Gloria Leonard, mistress of a New York brothel, discussing her business activities with her wide-eyed sister. Around this simple structure sit a variety of erotic encounters ranging from the strictly vanilla to some decidedly edgy dungeon sequences that bring to mind the Women In Prison movies of the period. Like Barbara Broadcast, its predecessor in the Metzger cannon, Maraschino Cherry never really amounts to much despite a few standout moments.

Opening of Misty Beethoven, The reviews:

What do you get when you mix Metzer, a classic play, two very hot actors, and a relatively big budget? You get the best porno movie ever made. Unfortunately, that's not saying very much since most porn movies are extremely bad and being the best of the worst isn't exactly a very good accomplishment. The largest problem with this movie is that the plot was razor thin and extremely fragmented. The flow of the story was continuously interrupted by needless scenes of blowjobs. (Way too many blowjobs in my opinion. Metzer is way too obsessed with blowjobs. The ratio of blowjobs to vaginal sex was something like 10 to 1.) He also liked to add in ridiculous dialogue to the ends of good scenes. I suppose his intention was to break the tension of sexual arousal with some comedy. (Mainstream movies do this all the time like when they add a comedy bit to an action sequence.) This device did not work for this movie because it ended up coming across as being stupid rather than funny which is funny since the play that this movie is based on is actually funny all the way through.

After side-by-side, shot-by-shot comparison of the new DVD version of the Henry Paris (Radley Metzger) classic with an old video that appears to have been made from an original release print of the film, only two short shots and the end title appear to be missing from the new DVD.

Length: 84:20 Year: 1975 The Opening Of Misty Beethoven has everything that makes a great film and not just a great porno. It is funny, cute, sweet, and very sexy. In my opinion everything came together perfectly in this film to make it maybe the best porno of all time. This is certainly the best porno I have seen in my admitedly rather limited viewing of the genre. VCA has done a superb job with this dvd they have included a commentary track with the star of the movie Jamie Gillis and supporting actress Gloria Leonard. They both provide interesting tidbits about the film and its making and about the other actors and actresses that took part in the film. The audio quality is excellent. The video quality is pretty good there is a problem with a lightening at the top and bottom of the screen but it is not too distracting, but this is the only problem with the video of note. The story of this film is based on the movie Pygmalion. This movie has been made numerous times. This version of course involves Dr.
