Baby Face (VCA) reviews:
review on

One of the greatest porn flicks ever, Alex de Renzy's BABY FACE (1977, TVX Home Video-2006) tells the story of a big lug named Dan (Dan Roberts) who is on the lam from not only the cops but also a pissed-off Mom named Molly (Mary Eaton) who catches Dan fucking her sex-crazed daughter Priscilla (lovely Lyn Malone) early in the flick. Director de Renzy and screenwriter John Mulligan bring this trio together for the nutty finale that takes place in a San Francisco brothel where Dan has been hiding out. Standard frame. 1 hour 45 minutes.

Long Jeanne Silver reviews:
review on

Jeanne Silver, a pretty amputee, appeared in men’s magazines and on San Francisco burlesque stages. She had the lower part of her left leg removed when she was a child. The remaining stump, extending several inches below her knee, is little more than bone covered with flesh. Director Alex DeRenzy uses the pseudo-documentary format to display Silver’s sexual habits. She fucks Amber Hunt during a threesome, impales two teenage students and even goes so far as to ram it up a homosexual’s ass.

Alex DeRenzy produced more than a few good films during the 1970s but he also produced more than a few awful ones. This one falls into the second category. Simply a dumb way to make money off a gimmick. Long Jeanne Silver was a New York runaway who made her acting debut in Shaun Costello's Waterpower in 1976. She then came to San Francisco landing on The Mitchell Brother's doorstep. The Mitchells picked her up and put her in live sex shows. Soon washed up, DeRenzy decided to use her in one of his hardcore quickies and shot a standard vignette film with her peculiarity as the centerpiece. Now for those of you who don't know where Long Jeanne got her name, well...She doesn't have one of her legs (yes, you read that right) and uses the stump the same way gay boys use their arms! So Long Jeanne Silver (the film) is just that, consisting of scene after scene of Long Jeanne sticking her long john in lots of girls (and even one boy in by far the film's funniest scene).

Candy Stripers reviews:
review on

This 1978 golden age classic by Bob Chinn is a lot of good, dirty fun. The set is convincing, and many have thought it was shot in a hospital although it was really shot on a sound stage in San Francisco. The acting is reasonably good, although the plot isn't complicated: a bunch of hospital patients who are more horny than sick, and three candy stripers willing to serve any way they can, including sexually. Many have commented that the women in classic porn are not as good looking as today's crop. Although that is generally true, Amber Hunt, for example, could hold her own even in today's porn biz. Arrow has done an outstanding job restoring sound and picture, and one of the cutest things about this movie is the song that was composed and performed for it. The fact that golden age adult films frequently had a song written specifically for them is one of the things that separates them from the current industry.

NOTE: This is not your typical review. Others have done an excellent job reviewing the content, scenes, performances, etc. of this porn classic. This "review" concerns itself with how the DVD's contents compare with the complete, uncut original release version of the film or an early (before prior self-censorship) VHS version. The Ratings given refer either to the "original" version of the film (Performers, Plot, Sex, etc.) or to the DVD version (Extras, Value, etc.) and are relatively arbitrary. The important info is that which follows. CANDY STRIPERS ALL THERE Bob Chinns 1978 classic, Candy Stripers has been brought to DVD by Arrow Films, who has done a great job of restoring the film as well as giving us ALL of it (sort of). For those who havent heard, there are two infamous scenes in the film (both involving fisting) that have long been cut out for fear of the dreaded porn police. Both scenes are present on the DVD, but not in their original positions in the complete film, which remains edited in this presentation.

Comming of Angels, A reviews:
review on

Although described as a hardcore spoof of Charlie's Angels, this is actually a very dark, almost depressing film featuring outstanding performances from some of the most talented late 70s hardcore actors. The production values and atmosphere are also very effective. A very good film for those who just can't stand modern porn.

Very "dark" plot including scenes of kidnapping, bondage and forced sex. The acting is fairly good although the A/V quality isn't the best (e.g. - some sex scenes substitute music for the actual sounds from the actors/actresses). This movie is famous for as lustful a lesbian scene as you will ever see. In it, Leslie Bovee eats, nay, devours Abigail Clayton's sweet, young pussy so voraciously, it borders on cannibalism. The camerawork is terrific as Abigail appears to gasp while Bovee firmly holds onto her squirming, orgasming body - feverishly sucking and tongue-lashing the pretty young actress' spasming pussy with all of her sexual energy until it actually seems that Clayton can take no more (this is one scene where the actual moans, groans and lip-smacking from the actresses would have added to the already volcanic nature of the action).

Length: 84:20 Year: 1977 The Caballero dvd of A Coming Of Angels is presented in full-screen which doesnt appear to be correct because during the ending credits the names are cut off on the left and right of the screen, but during the rest of the movie you dont notice anything really being cut off. Unlike earlier Caballero dvds this one is on one track so you dont have those layer changes that cause the pauses, such as on Amanda By Night. The story to this movie is that Mark (Jamie Gillis) is an evil kidnapper who sells the women he kidnaps to various buyers. Before he does this though he and his evil sidekicks train the women how to be sexually submissive. This movie was meant to be a take off of Charlies Angels, with Carrie (Annette Haven), Jennifer (Abigail Clayton), and Robin (Leslie Bovee) playing the angels. Jennifer has been kidnapped by Mark and his gang and so the other two angels are out to find her and that is the basic plot to the movie. Robert (John Leslie) has a serious problem throughout the movie.

Sex World (VCX) reviews:
review on

Anthony Spinelli's "Sex World" is a movie that I have been wanting to see for a very long time. I finally obtained a copy of this 1978 classic and the wait was well worth it. As an adult movie with a real plot and actors who could actually act, this film is effective on several levels: As erotica, a character study, and a psychological drama. There are many characters to keep track of here and the movie is practically a who's who of porn in 1978. The story revolves around a group of people taking a chartered bus to a resort known as "Sex World". The characters include Annette Haven as a lesbian left by her lover (Cris Cassidy), who comes to the resort looking for a heterosexual encounter; an adult movie enthusiast (Sharon Thorpe) who can't express her desires in real life; a racist (John Leslie) who is slowly seduced by black beauty Desiree West, and several couples having various sexual problems. The sex scenes themselves are pretty short, since they are so numerous in number, but they are all beautifully shot and uniquely erotic.

Running Time: 90 min. Production Date: 1977 according to RAME, 1978 or 1979 according to the VCX copyright at the top and bottom of the screen during the feature Director: Anthony Spinelli Cast: Amber Hunt, Leslie Bovee, Chris Cassidy, Abigail Clayton, Carole Tong, Desiree West, Annette Haven, Maureen Spring, Kay Parker, Sharon Thorpe, Johnnie Keyes, John Leslie, Joey Silvera, Jack Wright, Kent Hall, Peter Andrews, and Roberto Ramos Initial Expectations: YogaGrrl really enjoyed this feature, who I normally agree with very well. Flashs review wasnt so kind, who also normally shows some great taste, so Im not quite sure what to expect. Initial Reaction: Its just why people still long for golden age porn. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants plot, chemistry, and real people Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants implants, razor burn, and extreme sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit on the muffled side, but normally well balanced.

Cast: Leslie Bovee, Kay Parker, Sharon Thorpe, Desiree West, Annette Haven, Amber Hunt, Carole Tong, Abigail Clayton, Eileen Dover, Suzette Holland (aka Cris Cassidy), Kent Hall, Jack Wright, John Leslie, Peter Johns, Joe Civera (aka Joey Silvera), Roberto Ramos and Johnnie Keyes in sex roles; plus 20 credited actors in non-sex roles. Director: Anthony Spinelli Production date: The original copyright is 1977, but the DVD appears to be mastered from a 1979 print. (The DVD release date was 5/14/01.) Length: 90 min. Extras: None. There's not even a crummy web site ad. Unlike some early VCX releases, however, Sex World is recorded on a single track and does have a time code for easier navigation. I suppose we must be grateful for small mercies. False advertising: The box lists an "Animated Main Menu," an "Animated Jump to Scene" and "Photo Shots." There is no photo gallery. The main menu is not animated. The chapter menu does have an eight-second background loop, but the nine chapter stops are illustrated by stills.
