In Her Head reviews:
review on

Pushed to the brink of madness after stealing a briefcase loaded with cash, Lexi Belle finds herself on the run with her guy (Evan Stone) and imagining her victims, the Russo twins, just about everywhere...or so it seems. Such is the case in "In Her Head", a very good release from Vivid and David Stanley. A mind-bender of an adult film that's somewhat reminiscent of the Hitchcock flicks of yesteryear, this production features both a strong and engrossing plot and also plenty of hot sex. Indeed, a crazy Lexi Belle is just as cute as--if not cuter than--a sane one, and the figments that her mind conjures up are almost always as sexy as they are disturbing. With all of this taken together, this unusual release is easy to recommend.

This is an extremely impressive adult feature from David Stanley that really works the mood well. Lexi Belle shines in the lead, with Evan Stone and the Russo twins nicely backing her up. The technical aspects show some terrific effort and really help to make the mood of the movie work as well as it does, and there's some very nice care put into the extras to round out the DVD. This is a fantastic feature that's very deserving of all the praise it's received.

3 Way, The (Vivid) reviews:
review on

"The 3 Way" is an exceptional production from Vivid and David Stanley that focuses on Skin Diamond and Asphyxia Noir as a married lesbian couple whose already-rocky relationship gets turned on its ear when Xander Corvus, Skin's long lost step-brother and past love interest, pops up. Adding further fuel to the fire is the presence of Xander's crazy ex-girlfriend (Brooklyn Lee) and Asphyxia's slimy ex-husband (Tommy Pistol). What ensues is a powder keg of conflicting emotions and physical attraction that ultimately explodes into a steamy burst of sexual energy. Of course, it's all captured on film for the enjoyment of the viewer, and--fortunately--things do conclude on a high note...but not before taking a rough ride through some dark territory.

My Little Black Book reviews:
review on

"My Little Black Book" is a very good production from David Stanley and Vivid that features Capri Anderson in her first role as a contract performer with the company. Centered around Capri's obsession with Johnny Sins' character and also a black notebook that brings to life whatever is written down in it, this film delivers in terms of both its plot--which is fairly good for an adult film--and in terms of its sex--which is typically very good or better, as well. It's also nice to see that Vivid hasn't entirely forsaken the notion of having Vivid Girls.

"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" This was my first real experience with Vivid, having mostly just watched Wicked movies, and I have to say, I was really disappointed. The Movie: I'm going to start off with the worst part of this movie, the sex. I have never, ever seen such dull sex in my life! Never at any point was there any kind of heat between the performers, with the exception of the final lesbian scene, which was actually fairly hot thanks to Stephanie Swift. The rest of the time the sex was laughable, and WAY to short. The first sex scene, between Chris Cannon (who is usually a good performer) and Briana Banks is a total dud. Briana could hardly even fake it, and actually breaks out laughing at one point. Laughing like that isn't a good thing. The rest of the sex scenes are extremely vanilla. There is actually almost no female oral sex in this film, just very over drawn blow jobs, and the scenes seem to be rather badly shot. The only exception to that was the scene with Sunrise Adams.

Bare Stage reviews:
review on

"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" So,this is one of those movies that David Stanley is known for. Does it live up to the hype? The Movie: First off, if you don't want a lot of story and dialogue with your porn, don't get this movie. Bare Stage is around two hours long, and a good chunk of that is dialogue. I mean, if you cut the sex out you would still have a 90 minute movie, or something around that time frame. And it helps that the plot and dialogue are actually good. The basic premise of Bare Stage is that Savanna Samson wants to be a famous actress, and she becomes one, but in good ol' David Stanley style, things soon go to hell. The acting in this movie is good. Most of the actors handle their dialogue heavy roles well. The stand out though is Lezley Zen as the hooker with the heart of gold. While most of the actors ham it up, and play their roles with a nice dose of camp, Lezley plays her's with a surprising amount of honesty. I mean, I seriously was just amazed by her acting chops in this one.

Im going into this one with pretty high expectations. Initial Reaction: With releases like this David Stanley is quickly finding his way onto my list of favorite directors! Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a fun and artistic plot with their sex Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants straightforward porn or top notch technical aspects The Technical Stuff Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and nicely balanced, with a few purposeful background noises thrown in that add to things.

Instead Stanley went to Wicked. That story has me really curious about this one! Initial Reaction: I cant wait to see what David Stanley does for Wicked! Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a porn movie about porn Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting long or nasty sex scenes The Technical Stuff Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is clear and free of background noises, but the balance falters a little in places. The video is very well done, and nicely mixes color and black and white footage.

Vicious Streak reviews:
review on

Vicious Streak is a strange little flick that leans toward couples-oriented, but throws in enough fetishism to possibly attract the fringe crowd. It starts off with Sunrise Adams as an apartment manager showing a vacancy to prospective tenant Evan Stone. Soon, she has seduced him (why he needs to be seduced by the gorgeous Adams is anyones guess) into a romp on the apartment floor. It ends with a chest cumshot. The next applicant for the apartment is Eric Masterson, who isnt as easily persuaded as Stone. He rejects Adams advances, which not only surprises Adams but intrigues her as well. Meanwhile, Dasha is getting down and dirty with a bald-headed Dillon Day in Adams office. Dillons character is supposed to be gay, and its hard to tell what motivates him to switch teams, other than the lovely Dasha. Dillon comes on her foot. Adams visits Masterson and makes another advance, but again he turns her down. Turns out hes going to be busy videotaping a lezout between Jasmine Lynn and Betty Sue.

Swirl reviews:
review on

"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I was really not happy with David Stanley's The Contestants, but I gave him another chance with Swirl. Was I right to do so? The Movie: I'll get the easy part out of the way first. Let's talk about the plot of this bizarre little movie. The movie starts in a mental institution where a girl's parents are visting her. We don't get to see the girl's face, but we are lead to belive that it's Kira Kerner, because as the hospital fades out, and we flash back, we see the same mom talking to her daughter, played by Kira. It seems that Kira is trying out for the cheerleading squad, and is trying to impress the school hunk, Chad at the same time. Now, I have to stop here and make note of something. This does not take place in a high school. This takes place in a community college. Why am I mentioning this? Well, the script makes the actors mention this fact at least three times in the film's short running time. Okay, moving on. So sadly things won't work out for Kira because, for some unknown reason, the head cheerleader is out to get her.

Loveless reviews:
review on

Loveless is an entertaining flick that is a perfect example of bait-and-switch advertising. The box cover features gorgeous Chloe Jones, and shes got top billing in the credits. But this is really Lezley Zens vehicle. And while Lezley is no dog, shes not in Chloes class looks-wise. Chloe starts the action with a brief threeway with Evan Stone and another guy. The plotline is stupid and not really worth repeating (although Evan is pretty funny in his role). Suffice to say shes enticed to audition for a porno movie, the action is lukewarm at best, and it ends (after a very long jerkoff session) with a double facial. Lezley has a Jewish American Princess look to her, and she keeps a kind of bitchy but sexy persona going throughout. She asks Eric Masterson, her new neighbor, to be her partner in a fuck buddy arrangement, complete with no names exchanged and no falling in love. Eric resembles Chandler Bing in Friends, and Lezley looks a little like the Oh.myGod!!! Janice character from that same series.

Tricks reviews:
review on

In a word: Slight. The gist: Eric Masterson acquires a pair of Ava Vincent's panties from the laundry room of the building where they both live. He has a spell book that allows him to manipulate her pussy from afar via the panties, in a sort of voodoo-doll manner. This trick also ends up being used against him and Briana Banks. The play-by-play: The movie opens with Vincent accidentally leaving her panties for Masterson to find. There's nothing like doing some laundry to get a gal horny, so when she gets upstairs, she and Cheyne Collins get at it. I love Ava Vincent. She has a very expressive face during sex, and director David Stanley is wise to focus on it. Her scenes are light on gyrations and visually striking positions -- just a little spoon, a little mish, and some might even accuse her of just lying there -- but I like it. She still conveys a satisfaction and pleasure in the sex that I don't get from the contortions or yowling of other performers.

Good Things reviews:

"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" Well, I was really impressed with Pretty Girl, so I checked out one of David Stanley's older titles, and, well... what I got was not what I expected. The Movie: I should be giving this movie a lower grade than a four. The sex isn't all that great, and is actually kind of blah, but... there is just something about this movie. The plot goes as this: Ava Vincent is the main character (although Sunrise is on the cover). She starts off the movie as a complete bitch. What isn't on the back of the box is this... the movie is David Stanley's response to 9/11. When 9/11 attacks happen she realises that she has alienated everyone around her, and she wants to make things right. Things end up spining out of control. The plot of this movie is simple, but for some reason it sticks with you after you watch it. Mainly it's because of the acting. Sharon Kane and Ava Vincent both have none sex roles, and yet... they are the most important part of the movie.

REVIEW - "PERFECT COUPLE" Starlets: April, Cheyenne Silver, Dasha, Jewell Marceau, Nikita Denise Director: David Stanley * Synopsis Cheyne Collins is the leading man in this couples oriented feature. Cheyne is married to Dasha, but the state of their marriage is less than peachy. A few minutes into the film Dasha becomes fed up with her slovenly husband and splits without much explanation. Cheyne doesn't immediately jump back in the saddle. He deals with the break up by eating lots of junk food and watching porn. After awhile one of Cheyne's old buddies decides to get him back on the "road to recovery" which includes trying to pick up girls at a local bar. They encounter hottie Cheyenne Silver there and become involved. However, a relationship with Cheyenne proves difficult as well and Dasha is not quite out of the picture. * What's Hot Cheyenne shines several times in the blowjob department. Her sex scenes were the hottest in the movie. Good technical qualities. Picture, lighting and sound quality were all high, especially on the DVD version.

Cast: Gina Ryder, Devon, Sydnee Steele, Cassidey, Mark Davis, Vince Voyeur and Erik Price. Director: David Stanley Production date: 4/18/00 (box); 2/28/02 (opening statement) Length: 76 min. Extras: Fetish menu, multiple angles, nine bonus scenes, four trailers and a slide show with 18 photos (of Devon only). Audio/visual quality: The video quality is adequate. The sets and lighting are fairly decent, but the edits between soft and hard-core footage feel disjointed. There are minor problems with mushy focus, too many extreme close-ups, weird framing and medium-length shots that chop off the performers' heads. There's also a flickering line across the bottom of the screen. The audio is better, with a soundtrack of reasonably listenable hard rock and jazz. The music is well balanced with the sex sounds, and the overall volume and clarity are also good. False advertising: Devon is the cover model and receives top billing in the credits. However, Gina Ryder is unquestionably the star of the movie.

Extras: Fetish menu, multiple angles, six bonus scenes (menu displays only four), four trailers and a slide show with 20 photos. Audio/visual quality: The movie is shot on film with all its attendant hazards. Grain and white speckles are noticeably present. There are occasional problems with darkened corners, bleached colors and soft focus, as well. Otherwise, the visual quality has a solidly average feel. Some of the music is dissonant electronica that sounds like it was rescued from a 90's porn vault. The remainder isn't so bad, although it's often in a dismal minor chord and tends to change rather haphazardly midscene. Oddly, there's also a beautiful classical piecethe ironically named "Air on a G String" from Bach's Orchestral Suite 3.
